Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I disagree, I suspect he'll either be the player he was or won't be a player.

It either heals or doesn't, i can't see why there would be a physical restriction.

being silly now with that logical clarity.

As to others thoughts of captaincy. ..ffs how much pressure do you want to give him ?

Hes a long path back.

Itll take many months to regain 'normal' fitness. .. and then theres conditioning/loading to afl level...let alone match fitness.

Be very surprised if he did anything really this year. Possibly a test at magoos level to see what transpired.

Id be happy for the lad if he can just walk..run..and jump and lead an unrestricted life.

Let's just see how he goes

No expectations .

Let the bloke have a life. It may or may not be footy.

He said yesterday that he won't play this year as it wasn't worth coming back for the last couple of games at best.

Hopefully we have 2 former number 2 picks playing their best footy for the club next year and for many more to come.

As much as I like to think Melbourne has stopped making stupid trade decisions, I have a horrible feeling that we will move him on for a packet of chips at the end of the season, for him to then be revitalised and return in great form for another team.

I hope like hell we sign him on for another year to give him a chance to play AFL standard footy again, even if it is on the rookie list. Unfortunately, I see Mitch Clark 2.0.

His ability to train hard and without any foot related issues pre trade period will be the only indicator the club should look at.

We know be has the ability and I'd be pretty disappointed if we cut him or traded him when his body has come good.

Am I correct in that he still isn't walking? i.e. moonboot/scooter?

If correct that leaves him 6 months (end of September) to get up and running to the point where the club believes his foot will hold up.

The fact that he is saying "oh won't play this year, not worth pushing for the last couple of games" suggests that his progress track means he'll be running mid year and theoretically able to play by the end of the year.

Hopefully he can have a good hard block of training in September that convinces everyone his foot will make it back.

Out of the boot and has started walking.

Like you I would love to see Jack play AFL footy again (preferably as a Demon) but this line from Jack is the most worrying: "I saw the surgeon a few weeks ago now and I think it's the end of this season for me," It can't be progressing at all well to have the season written off before it started.

Should he recover to play and we were to let him go to another club then I hope he makes it, lord knows the young man deserves a bit of luck. If this happened I would cheer him every time he went near the ball as unlike others that have been seduced by the siren song of money or 'success' and left, he stuck by this club thru thick and thin. Will always be a JT fan wherever he goes.

We have given other players a short contract as a reward for lots of reasons, so why not him - Evans being a recent example. Can't trade .

Saw him last week / 2 weeks ago and was walking normally.

We would get a packet of chips for him which is why I think we shouldnt/wont trade. There is too much upside to him to let him go for a late 2nd round / 3rd round pick.

I'd like to think that he and Petracca will be back on the track for a big pre-season and put pressure on the 22.

TRADE definitely What more reward is necessary?he is being paid his contract rate and He is recovering. The club will have to make an unemotional decision based on what is best for the club.

Exactly right. Team Lists are too short now to carry injured players for long periods

Jack hasn't been fit for 2 years. This year makes it 3....

I really like Trengove and hope he makes a full recovery and plays his entire career at this club.

But he is so bloody boring in his interviews - he speaks too slowly. I find it painful to listen to.

Not as slowly as he runs, surely his comeback gets down to that and nothing more.

Get some speed across the ground and he's good to go.

No doubt MFC need players who are INTERESTING( rather than beige) to front the press....Jack isnt one of them ...neither is Jack!...though Todds boy has attitude!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
