Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We did.

Their names are Petracca and Brayshaw.

Early days to be calling them A grade midfielders. To be frank, Brayshaw looks as though he has A grade potential and we haven't even seen Petracca.

I believe they can both be stars of the competition one day and will be great contributors to the footy club, bet lets not heap too much expectation on them just yet.

I'm willing to take a large punt on this.

I like the confidence. I suppose I'm still a little reserved after our recent history of drafting, and don't want to get too ahead of myself just yet.

If we actually go for the pick 6 > 3 upgrade, we obviously rate Parish a lot higher than most think. Could the difference in talent between 3 picks really be that significant in the one draft?

The alternative is Howe could probably get us pick 19 from the Suns (if we hold our ground) which could probably get us Rioli or Gresham. Interesting times!

Brayshaw is the best first year mid I've seen at MFC for at least ten years.

Petracca we shall have to see, but those who should know gush "Hogan like" about his talents and potential...

I admire norf minnow club low supporter base yet always put there body's on the line and continually play final

Year after year.

Thats right they have always been minnows, but hit above their weight. they are proud to be battlers, as they should be. There is no shame, nor pity in that. In fact, to me they are to be admired for their guts.

I note his manager saying in the Hun that not many people realise Howe is an elite endurance athlete as well as a repeat sprinter of high order! Not sure I noticed that in games but at training I know he ticks nearly every box on mobility, ball handling, speed and aerial skill. And his manager says a major motivation is for Jeremy to find one position and play there. Well yes he has been moved around as we have searched for where he can play to his obvious strengths.

Has he ever played on the wing for an extended period? He has obvious Isaac Smith like abilities but I don't believe he has ever shown the willingness to work hard running both ways. He has at times looked bloody good at running forward on the wing, think of that incredible running with the flight of the ball mark over Embley at the Gee some years ago (degree of difficulty 9.98). And this year In the last game at Etihad i witnessed him run forward to the pocket and Brayshaw I think just loop up a pass in the air. Howe just launches himself vertically for the mark, the defender had no chance of getting a fist in there. And then he kicks the goal. He should be able to do that three times a game easily. These are all cameos of talent. For some reason he lacks the work ethic or the knowledge of how to do it, to be a consistent 20 to 25 possession outside runner who can kick goals. He learns that and he is worth his weight in picks. I would be happy for him to stay and we work on his potential. But if he goes so be it.

I agree, he should have been settled into half back at the beginning, to get his footy smarts & running going, than as he'd be accomplished in afl level, he then could have been tried forward & other spots like mid R/R.

Trengove had a better first year and was a full year younger. Actually, he was 16 months younger.

Trengove's next year, i.e.the same age as Brayshaw this year, was far superior.

Btw, this isn't a knock on Brayshaw, who I reckon is a future star, it's merely fact.

Agree, we forget how good Trengove was. I remember at the time thinking i was watching a young Nathan Buckley..

If he can recapture that form we will play finals.

Parish or Curnow, I don't believe they won't get taken by the bummers, they could go for either 2 imo. & the bummers engineered their way down the ladder to get the early pickings.

.... would be happy for the other clubs to lock the bummers out, for what they've done to the game recently.

IMO we should start working in partnerships with GC.Suns & the Giants. supporting one another to grow.

I worry about soft tissue injury a lot of players seem to have after long stints on the sidelines. Let's hope the dees are extra careful with this

The earlier Posters who suggested we are after Parish are correct. Parish has been the key target for months.

Here's the thing about upgrading from #6 to #3:

After Weitering & Schache, there are 4 or so in the next group - Parish, Francis, Curnow & maybe Mathieson.

The upgrade gives us the first choice of that group, not the 4th choice.

No small thing.

Have been saying all along the Bombers mysterious bottom 4 finish was clearly manufactured. How convenient they ended up down there after years of draft sanctions, with a coach who clearly sat in the coaches box doing nothing strategic whatsoever during games to win them.

I am warming towards Curnow, from the player reviews and highlights. He would be a nice complement to Hogan in our forward structure although Francis down back would further strengthen our run out of attack.

Also 19 will assist with our other trades this week (along with anything we engineer with Toumpas)!

exactly, they list managed their way down for early picks. really under-performed, & sent Jobe O/S. & his heir-ness probably thought thru the season that his goldelocks would still be in charge, to command from the helm. so he looked to build his list.

imagine the shock when told the truth. tata goldelocks.

GC would have to throw in their third rounder in this instance, either for us to trade for Bugg or Melksham.

Howe isn't worth a 3 pick upgrade in the first round (although it seems the club really want Parish from what I've heard).

We could offer Carlton Dawes on the basis they promise not to pick Parish.

You Can't do that anymore plus Carlton will probably dobb us in they've got us in to trouble before they can do it again. I woudn't think that Carlton would pick Parish based on I would think they would take Whitering or Schache . If we had the No 1 pick I would be going for Schache as we need another Forward to Help Hogan.

I'd rather keep pick 6 and get a player for Howe we seem to be getting ripped off though I have not seen Parish play but heard bombers are desperate for him

If we can trade Howe and pick 6 to GC for picks 3 and 19 then it is a win-win. The Gold Coast pick up a highlight reel who they can market, whilst not losing any players and retaining a high pick. By upgrading our first round pick we ensure we get our target (whether that be Curnow or Francis) and get a high second round pick to assist us in getting our midfield trade targets over the line.

Maybe we reckon it could be a year like last year?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
