Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't understand the hate for Jeremy Howe on here

2014

1st for short kicks

5th for kicks

2nd for marks

1st for contested marks

2nd for rebound 50's

He is now playing in the forward line which is a much harder position and kicked 4 goals in the past 2 weeks

People get so carried away with draft/trade and what we can get for him that's it's not funny

He is 24 years of age has played 89 games and kicked 75 goals

I hope he re-signs and continues to get more consistent........I've just returned from Bali.....Demonland never changes, I might have to go back

Stop looking at stats and watch the game. He played well against the Dogs and was pretty good against the Pies - that's probably two decent games he's played this year. He's a lazy footballer and picks and chooses when he wants to go. He's also too easily taken out of the game and doesn't offer much other than a pack mark and occasional goal. Doesn't crumb much and his opponent continually runs off him to create options downfield. He also seems to be getting in Hogan's way rather than taking his player away from the ball.

Overall I won't be upset to keep him but he has currency with other clubs and if we can get a top 20 pick (or better yet a top 10 pick) in return and either on-trade it or use it on a mid we will have come out on top.

On trade the pick.

Then in reality you aren't taking a pick for Howe, you are taking another player for Howe with some picks in the middle. Very different proposition to taking a draft pick, which is what was proposed.

Source is a GWS employee.

People are right about them using their first rounder to get their academy player though, so it seems they will be using one of their young kids who want out to do another trade to get a pick in the top 15 to on trade to us for Howe.

If true, i'd rather pry one of their mids away from them than have to go to the draft with another speculative pick.

SOOOO??????

Howe is attractive to other clubs as a marketing device due to his high flying?

MFC has so many marketing features that we can afford to let him go and increase an opponents position????

Howe has improved his presence and stats under the new coaching regime and has potential to become a better player and is approaching his prime time.

He provides another different forward option to Hogan and has shown versatility in defensive roles and has played soem games on the flank and wings.

He needs to be developed further properly and used better, we seem to the coaches that can do that.

He will be better in a team which has better playing resources (mids and crumbers) we are building those.

He may need to be sat down and have the harsh reality discussion. His potential worth will grow as he improves his output.

His worth will improve as the team he is with has success.

We are building to that success with the players and support staff we have but we can only offer him an amount commensurate with his output. If he does not accept an offer he will be playing in reserves and his development with Melbourne will cease as he does not want to go on with us. His value to other clubs will be diminished as they see that he has not played to potential has not been developed and will be past his best by the time they retrain him there will also be the added suggestion that he is indeed lazy and not committed to the hard work that is necessary to succeed.

I like Howe, I like his potential, I would rather we get it than someone else but he must produce.

If the above diminishes his worth to us on the market so be it we must then recruit an alternative with some difficulty but develop and utilise them

Its not easy but we know that already.

The problem is if he signs up for say 3 years he can then just walk away as UFA. (Yes, we can match a UFA offer).

So it may be better to trade him now while and get a good pick/player? This doesn't mean I want him to go.

Straight swap for Scully?

From memory Todd Viney was very keen on Lachie lowman in his draft and may have taken him at 3 or 4 if the pick wasnt traded. TV saw him turning from a defender into a big bodied mid. Might be a trade option for Howe even if he stays.

Plowman has averaged 9 disposals 3 marks and 2 tackles in 18 games. Aside from his low stats, hasn't shown anything from what I have seen.

Plowman was very much in the mix if GWS didn't take him.

Don't worry about stats, Plowman has had injury issues and hasn't really had a run at it. May work to our advantage in that he hasn't held or improved his value.

He can play key back or rebounding def at the moment, which would be handy if Garland goes. Given our injury list, he'd be a handy option right now.

He has very good disposal and awareness, which combined with his frame (190cm) made a lot of recruiters believe he had the capacity to develop into a mid in the future.

I'd like him as part of a deal for Howe.

Even if we get (just) a first rounder for Howe, we should take it and run.

I like Jeremy, and think he has lots of improvement in him, but reality is that he's a commodity in this competition. Every commodity has a price and a first round pick is a probably overs.

We got him with a pick in the 30's, he's played 89 games and increased his value to the club.

Even if he's made up his mind (to leave) I expect him to represent the club as a professional, to the best of his ability. Even if we think he's gone, we play him if his form warrants it.

You said you would take a top 20 pick and run if it was offered. Hence my comment that you would throw away a known entity for an untried kid drafted in the teens in a shallow draft. That is what you proposed.

The depth of the draft is rated as shallow, no doubt.

You will still have access to very good talent with a pick in the first round. Beyond the second round, it looks pretty patchy at this stage.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
