Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Couldn't see any mention of him but Kieran Lovell, relative of Andy starred on the weekend for Tasmania racking up 42 disposals.Described as a nuggety inside midfielder who has been likened to Fremantle's Lachie Neale, was Tassie's best. Some footage can be found on the AFL website Eyecatchers where they go on to say that he is a smart footballer, accumulative taking 10 marks, 4 clearances and 19 handball receives.

Hope this linked worked.

Gives a good run down on the new bidding system.

Sorry if someone else has brought it up and this seemed like the right topic to put it in.

A good article. I knew the basics already. But its good to see some real examples.

I really wanted to know about the use of future picks which they didn't go into.

I'm thoroughly underwhelmed by Tucker.

Surely for a pick as early as we'll have, in a weak draft no less, you want a pure mid, not a bloke who plays off the HBF.

Sure, he's learning to go into the middle, but why hasn't he been playing as a mid at some level all along?

It worries me, and I don't see any exceptional attributes in the kid - just a solid all-rounder that has limited midfield experience.

Having said that, I'm underwhelmed by Schache too.

Looks a lot like David Hale to me.

Not a great deal of aggression or competitiveness and looks a bit slow tbh.

I'd have Parish, Weidemann or Kieran Collins before both.

I'd have the same reservations on Tucker.

I'm higher on Schache, I think his tank is very good and he looks like he gets decent separation on his opponent at this level. His set shot kicking is a thing of beauty and he spots up target's well around the ground. There are parts of his group game that remind me of Joe Daniher (not his kicking, not as athletic). The caveat with him is that the best underage key defenders play for Vic Country, so Murray vs Dandenong will probably inform us better on him than Vic Country vs Metro. Fair to say he doesn't have Hogan levels of aggression and competitiveness.

For all that, if I had to choose at pick 1, Weitering would be my choice. He does have the competitive streak and his one on one stuff looks stronger than Schache's.

Don't mind Charlie Curnow who I think will slide so would not be adverse to us trading down our pick to the mid to late teens

I'm very keen to see more of Curnow play. The (very) limited footage I've seen has been quite exciting and he's still highly regarded by some clubs despite his injury and lack of exposure this year.

If we were picking at 5 right now (and Parish was off the board), I'd be thinking very hard about selecting Curnow here.

really hope we can somehow snare Weideman in the draft trading machinations, as our 2nd pick, mid 1st Rnd somewhere.

Have to agree re Tucker. Others appear to be passing him by. Hope/ think that Parish may slide to us.

Is there a Wines, Dustin Martin type in the top ten?

Not quite mate. The best contested players are attached to GWS & Sydney. I don't have Mathieson at Wines' level, and he certainly doesn't have Dusty Martin's explosive traits and kicking ability. Looking very much like a draft for kpp's.

Callum Moore impressed again tonight.

Oh, in that case, we'll just take Hogan MKII.

Wines, Martin and Brayshaw - all dual sided. That is why they are so damn good.

Because they are effective on both sides of the body, they also spread either side, it really opens the game up for them.

I haven't seen any player this year in that mould.

MFC is well positioned in the draft, we either take the best KP who slips through the net - given that KPs are touted top 3 picks (Schache, Weitering and Francis), or.. We instead decide to take the best mid in the draft - whoever that may be. Personally, I would take the best KP early, then take Lovell - or Gresham if he slipped - with our next pick.

Martin is definitely not dual sided. I was at the game against the Eagles and he had to check-side kicks from 50 because he didn't want to go on his left.

Wines I haven't watched enough of to know but I think Brayshaw would have to be one of the most fluent kicks on either side that I have seen at such a young age.

If Martin check sided on his dominate foot, it has more to do with the angle - and less to do with his competency on his opposite foot.

I really doubt this. I'd recommend watching the footage again if you can.

One of them he rolled through for a goal which was fairly lucky. The second one dropped well short straight to an Eagles player.

Without a doubt Brayshaw is much better on his opposite foot (whichever that is), Martin is more explosive though.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. Harrison Petty, JvR, Jack Billings, Kade Chandler, Kozzy, Bayley Fritsch, and coach Stafford.  The backs join them, Steven May, Jake Lever, Woey, Judd McVee, Blake Howes, Tom McDonald

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
