Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where do we finish on the ladder next year?

16 yes...15's a push

we will be pushing. Roos will, and when it starts to kick in, you can be sure the players will burst their way up, with great enthusiasm, out of the past few years.

It's been a while coming, but coming it is; and in my view it will take some stopping when it breaks out.

So, more interesting than the when, for me, will be seeing the how.

But as to next year, I am hoping to be seeing the phoenix rise, in a triumph such as we have not seen in the AFL for some time.

I agree we'll be pushing...ive predicted we'll go 9th i just think we might after some serious exertions run out of legs a little bit by the back end of the season.

then , another preseason, better/bigger tanks and into the 8

Ingredients for turnaround didn't seem to backwards over the draft period. I like the idea of the linkages of players, orchestrated or not. Brothers McDonald, Glenelg coupling, Petracca/Brayshaw and Lamumba/Dawes as fellow premiership players. You would reckon it will build a group that are prepared to really go to battle together. Think Roos gets this. Seems to me, very Sydney like.

From a disenchanted rabble to a close-knit band who WILL go in for each other and PLAY for each other.

This portends a quantum change

We need an early hard fought win/wins for the belief and momentum to kick in.

Once we learn to win and they back themselves we will surprise quite a few teams and shut their supporters up too!

9 wins 13 losses

Finish: 13th

Pecentage: 85-90

60 or more points wins: 2

60 or more points losses: 0

List turnover at end of season: less than six

Bottom 4-6 in 2015.

But I think we'll see significant improvement in 2016.

I see players like Toumpas, Salem and Viney really finding their feet next year.
We'll see glimpses of the brilliance from Petracca and solid efforts from Brayshaw.
But in 2016 it will all come together - and we'll be charging into the 8.

I'm banking on us landing a name at the end of next year, there is no doubt MFC will be a desired destination.
Without being overly bias, we now have one of the best young lists in the league.

We've shipped out a truck load of mediocrity sans one who occasionally and once was good for a "coach" load of actual footbalers.

Approx ONE QUARTER of the list has churned in our favour....we've actually got about 33% more ability without stepping onto the field yet.

There is just NO WAY we can be the same team. The synergy of better and MORE able bodied mids together with folk at the sharp end who can do SOMETHING !!! MUST...must make a big difference. When you consider elections and how shifts are affected by not a lot then its the same with a team..Once the balance shifts into our favour....things WILL happen.

6-8 wins, finals a possibility next year.

Lots of variables in that, though I do feel, with the positive steps that have been taken off the field (coaching, development), and the quality of the players coming in, sooner or later it's going to start to turn.

I think we will kick about three more goals a game with a fitter Dawes, JKH & Gawn as well as the addition of Jeffy, Hoges and the returning Howe.

Also with an improving backline and an improving midfield we should be able to save one or two goals a game.

Should get us 10-14th spot and have us shaking a few top teams.

I cant see us passing GWS, Suns or the dogs unfortunately as they have some wonderful kids also who are all improving as well. Brisbane could push for the 8 as well.

Saints and blues will be down below us but not sure who else

Got to love the off season, we all put such high expectations on our season only to be slapped in the face with reality at half time of round one.

Until we have a stable list we will not get out of the bottom 4.

Wherever 7 or 8 wins lands us.

Solid spine, handy-but-not-quite-there-yet mids, and some good kids getting experience we'll look better than 2014, but still a fair way off the pace.

What I'd really like to see is players like Jamar, Garland, Vince, Harry O, Dawes, and dare I say Grimes etc start to get pushed out of the side, not because they aren't good enough but because there is someone better to choose. But that's a fair way off yet.

For what its worth I think the biggest impact will stem from off the ground generation. Before the draft even happened the non playing personnel that has been collected is going to have a seismic effect on the mental approach that this Team should have collectively developed and will make those goose bumps and hairs stand up when they are on the ground in the guts.

One such occasion for me was watching a young almost undiscovered Simon Eishold play a cracking game in a final I think in the late 80's

This is a mental game now more than ever and if we look close enough come the practice matches I'm thinking and hoping even then we will be able to feel it.

I hope that next year is not too early.

My prediction....just wanna feel the hairs and the goose bumps again.

You'll know.

Can't see Vince ever getting pushed out. Didn't he lead the league for metres gained this season? He'll be best 22 til he retires.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. Harrison Petty, JvR, Jack Billings, Kade Chandler, Kozzy, Bayley Fritsch, and coach Stafford.  The backs join them, Steven May, Jake Lever, Woey, Judd McVee, Blake Howes, Tom McDonald

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
