He may turn out great...but by now it should be common knowledge that you trade for ruckmen, not spend a high pick on them.

Let someone else carry him for 5 years.

There have been plenty of great ruckmen come from the rookie draft.

For once it's going to be a very exciting draft. Seems like the least predictable draft in a long time. Won't be sorry if he goes 1. Means we will get Petracca and Brayshaw. That's a big kick start to the midfield. Or if Petracca goes first which is my prediction the we could get McCartlin and Brayshaw. Also a pretty nice outcome. There doesn't seem to be a midfielder other than these two who stands out enough to be picked ahead of McCartlin. So he'd be my guess for pick 3 if we don't trade it and Petracca goes 1.

I actually think Wright is a safer bet than McCartin. McCartin looks too much like a talented school boy kid who's better than everyone but might not have the same tricks at AFL level. If he doesn't make it as a forward then Wright will make it as a ruck at least.

But we need to think of him as a forward to draft him. If we think he's a ruck then stuff that. If we think he's the best KPF in the draft and as good (or close to) the likes of big forwards like Boyd and Daniher who have come through of late then we lock him in.

I'm in favour of Wright over McCartin.

It just makes more sense when you look at the overall balance of the forward line. Hoges as a power forward and Wright as forward ruck like Tippett/Daniher/Clark etc...

There is an argument to say that what you produce out of your arse Tim is more newsworthy and relevant than many of the offerings I read on these boards.

For someone his size he also has a phenomenal leap, nothing like a 203cm forward jumping up and grabbing the ball at the highest point where defenders have no chance. That skill translates to the AFL extremely well and is almost unstoppable if he does it right, you only need to look at Joe Daniher and see what he has accomplished to see the kind of impact Wright could have at AFL level. I look at Fremantle who are still looking for that second tall who can also ruck, Ross Lyon is forced to try and convert Ruckman in Griffin and Clark into KPP and it just doesn't work consistently.

I agree we have our McCartin type in Hogan (only better.........................still yet to play a game though, so no pressure), if Roos was hoping to develop a forward line with Dawes as lead-up CHF, Hogan big bustling FF, and Clark as rotating ruck/forward, he won't get a better chance to replicate it again by bringing in Wright.

But Roos doesn't seem to like bringing in talls with early picks (so he says, but who really knows). I'm not too concerned though, whichever way Roos goes, i'm comfortable with it.

Only judging mcCartin and wright by the highlight packages of them, but going from those wright has a lot more going for him. Mccartins highlights have a lot of him missing set shots, and if that's what they can come up with to show him off then I don't like what I see. Wright has a good kick on him for his size and uses his size well, and I'd say would be a safer bet if we were to draft one of the two.

team needs good balance, HL and Frost will give us a stronger backline, Strech and which ever mid we get with pick 2 will give us a faster/better mid field and taking a tall forward would help out hogan, we all know how exposed we were this year with only Dawes as our forward target, while garlett will help he will help most when the talls are competing in the air and he has the ground to himself to crumb. I like the idea of taking a good size mid and a tall forward/ruck.

I agree we don't really have the luxury of having someone take 5-6 years to develop at the stage where at now. As far as all the footage i've seen so far this guy has the greatest potential IMO.

This category of player simply isnt our priority..Go shopping for one later if need be.

What we do need is about 4 Adam Goodes types ( as footballers ...not his other 'qualities')..i.e tallish , stronger utility types.

Nothing particularly about what Emma says is wrong... however every team has ITS needs and will rank accordingly.
