Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

OK, before I start this thread and open it up to the Loserville comments like "Who cares" and "In: Flower, Lyon and Schwarz" or "Out: Everyone", I thought I'd make a few actual comments about the selection.

The first is that PR has a difficult decision to make about Jack Watts this week and next week. He's spent all year defending him in the media and he's tried him up on the wing so that he can get some easy touches and hope the pressure goes off him, but even PR must have been watching his lack of intensity and willingness to chase that proved so costly against a bunch of boys on Sunday.

So can he now forsake him at this late stage in the season? My guess is that PR will again remain faithful and there will only be a few changes.

The same principles apply a bit to a number of players who were quiet on Sunday - eg: Frawley, Dawes, Garland. PR has shown great loyalty to his senior group - how can he wield the axe now and if he does, is it a great message going into the off-season? Some might argue that it is the perfect message - it would give them a reminder that their spots are on the line so that they work harder in the summer.

Grimes is obviously injured and is one out.

Bail is a must for Perth because he runs all day and Pedersen showed great character in magoos and also must come back in - could he be a surprise tagging match-up for Nic Nat?

The two easy outs for Roosy (no damage to his senior harmony) are Dom Barry (glad he's got a few games now though) and Matt Jones (he was meant to step up after being axed and he has gone more back into his shell). Riley could be on shakey ground this week as well.

I would love to see Salem play down back - I've been banging on about how we are the only club without a left footer in our back half for a few weeks now and he has courage (just ask Davis) and tackles like a backman should. It would be nice to see him getting a few cheap kicks down there and with Grimes out, there's a spot for him. I'd also like to see Garland up forward again because he is not providing anything down back except spoils.

So for me it's:

Out: Grimes (inj), Barry, M.Jones and maybe Riley.

In: Pedersen, Bail, JKH and maybe Tapscott/McKenzie.

Team

B: Jetta (Cripps or Le Cras if he plays) Frawley (Kennedy) Dunn (McGovern)

HB: Howe McDonald (Darling) Salem

C: Bail Tyson Cross

HF: Garland Dawes Viney

F: JKH (only decent crumber we have) Gawn Kent

Ru: Jamar Vince N.Jones

Int: Pedersen, Michie, Riley

Sub: Watts (I've been banging on about this also for weeks. It's the one way Roosy can drop him without a media stir being created and he may come on for a quarter and play with actual intensity.)

I think you over rate JKH. He did nothing at Casey this week and had 4 touches against the Hawks in what was a reasonable team effort. Seems to spit the dummy a bit in my opinion.

In : Strauss, Pedo & JKH.

Out: Grimes (inj), Matt Jones, (useless), Riley ( Should never play again, can't kick, turnover merchant of the highest order. Kelly from GWS probably still can't believe that pass Riley gave in the last quarter to blow the lead out to 10 goals plus.

I know how he feels, I have a member of staff that is lazy, disinterested and mistake prone. I have been looking for a replacement for 8 months. No suitable applicant, so lazy still has a job. The day a better prospect pops up lazy gets the chop.

I'm feeling slightly paranoid because my boss is a Melbourne supporter and he has used 2 of the 3 adjectives above to describe me previously - All I had last night was mangoes and rum, if you find a sloppy surprise in your top left drawer tomorrow morning then I guess we should have a face to face conversation....

But seriously, if you've been searching for 8 months and haven't found a suitable replacement for 'lazy' in the current job climate there's every chance you're expecting above average performance for below average conditions...

Edit: Just in case you read it Dave, that was a joke. The real surprise is on your carpet.

I say give Strauss and Blease one last chance to show what they can do before they get the axe. Both should do well offensively on the wide open spaces out West. We already know they don't defend well, but given how badly the rest of the side did this week what would it hurt? At least we know that they can both hit a target with a decent penetrating pass.

Roos is a fence sitter, hasn't made a statement at selection all year. he'll do the usual Barry Riley Jones out. bla bla

I get why he does this. You can't make 6 changes every week. It doesn't work. At some point you have to put it on the cattle and say I'm backing you. The time for statements is at seasons end.

i partly agree with you , by statement i didn't mean wholesale, 1 leadership omission at the right time can send a message & have a impact.delisting at seasons end isn't coaching

It actually not BS old dee seen it many times, it's players going into self preservation mode playing for their futures and not wanting to be the one making the mistake.

In - Will to compete by all 22 and at the very least break even with their direct opponent

Outs - My 7 year old has hung in and hasn't followed his older brother to another club. My boy is probably the only reason I am going this Saturday because he wants to see the Dees but he is wavering a bit and now supporting second sides (Freo because of his mates and Hawthorn because they are his teams colours). I believe a shocking performance by our boys on Saturday and there goes another young fan.

Outs - Mrs Nomed. Point blank won't go Saturday night

Test - Nomed Junior. Looked at tickets on the fridge and went "Oh yeah", seems to lack commitment, however I can't delist him as he is in a "development" role.

Paterson Stadium I hate it, is it really10 years since Round 11 2004 when Vardy dragged us across the line in the rain?

I have a really really really really good/weird feeling that we're going to bounce back this week. Am I alone? I'm expecting only a 30 point loss

Maybe in the Bailey era but not now

For a lot of posters who seem to not care anymore, we are on to about topic nr 15 since Sunday, all banging on about the same thing.

Reason I don't post a lot after a game like Sunday, what is the point, I was there, I saw it, it was horrible, I have no idea what is/went wrong.

I went to training a couple of days before and everybody looked switched on and ready to go, I speak to them and ask them about the supposed 'scarring' they all deny it.

I feel like going this week and just giving them the death stare.

I could pontificate ad infinitum, but all that does it just not let go of it....

Does Roos know what is wrong and how to fix it, hopefully.

Move on to next week, at least if I go to one of the Sports Bars to watch it, I can get reasonably priced food and drink........

Start by dropping Dawes and Jamar. Play Frawley in defence where he should have been since QB. Pedersen, Fitzpatrick & Clisby to come in. Bring a plank of wood to whack Howe with every time he lets his opponent out of touching distance. If Salem plays, put him in the action, instead of letting him die a slow death in a FP. Beyond that, I have no idea. I doubt we can keep the margin under 10 goals, even with a decent effort.

I can't believe Jamar gets off scot free in these forums.

Then again, we have a history of keeping rucks that are useless or past their used-by date (White, Jamar, Spence) and off-loading 150 game influential multi-dimensional mobile tall ruckmen like Jolly and Martin. (At demonology you are welcome to view my consistent views about Martin)

If a slow dinosaur is not taking marks and dominating taps to advantage, he just makes a one-paced midfield look slower.

Blease had 5 disposals in the VFL game. His done.

I think he was injured before half time olisik.

all that really means is he has probably played his last game for the MFC.

I cannot say that worries me .

Watts was selected in the middle and i thought at last he will be used, the best kick to position in the team and yes it happened once and then to my disgust i seen several/continual leads ignored...disgusted...watch the game..

Stress? What stress? I only find football stressful when a game is close.

Apparently Pedersen was best for Casey so I suspect he will come in along with Bail and Terlich (who I wouldn't play if I was selecting the side). I predict the outs will be Grimes (inj), Matt Jones and Riley. Barry doesn't really keep his spot on merit - rather he stays for the sake of personal development.

Frawley and Dunn should play in defence. And Watts should play on the wing. I'd also like to see Salem have a run on the ball. Otherwise he might freeze if he remains in the forward pocket all day. And any kicks he get have a better chance of finding a target than any of Matt Jones or Riley.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
