Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In all seriousness, where do we go from here ? I'm at a loss to what happens now. All the improvements we have made this year went out the window yesterday. It defies logic that we could not only lose to a side who's been in existence for 3 years missing Cameron, Whitfield, scully and then throw in there 2 captains (also there best defender & midfielder) along with there 2nd best forward missing after half time and Adam treolar playing injured but lose by 11 goals and only kick 3 ourselves!!

If we can only kick 3 goals against the giants who have conceded the most points against this year then were stuffed. Why would any player such as malceski want to come play for melbourne now ? We won't be able to attract anyone. Even in the darkest of dark days of 2012 we managed to knock the giants off by 10+ goals (yes they were young then but with what they had out there yesterday they'd be similar)

The sad reality is we call for a mass clean out at season end, the players heads we want gone in Mckenzie, blease, strauss, tapscott, Nicholson.. I didn't see them running around pretending to play football at the G yesterday.. I seriously don't know what's wrong with those players out there yesterday, they must be me mentally F'd.

What happens in 2 years time when roos leaves ? This obviously isn't going to be fixed in 2 years. I really don't know what to make of this club... If we weren't called Melbourne and the fact the AFL couldn't have a comp without a "melbourne" side we'd be on the next spirit of Tasmania out of here because this club can't survive the way it is going.

Also the AFL will obviously never give out a PP because if there's one side that needs it it's us. They have GWS & GC all these top picks to make sure they were competitive. I'd say we have an argument that we need a compromised draft like they got and have atleast 3-4 top 10 picks. We have been so bad for so long and you'd think after 8 years the last thing in the world that would happen is us losing to a half fit not at full strength GWS side at the MCG. God help us

I really don't know what to think. The feeling is worse than 186 to tell the truth.

The 4 wins we've had were all pretty fortunate when you look back on them. Hell, even Neeld pulled out a win against the Bombers. They may have papered over some gaping cracks.

The list needs a serious shake up, that much is abundantly clear. But when players like Garland now have a question mark over their heads, just how many are worth keeping? I honestly don't know anymore.

Could be fatigue. Could be worrying about saving their own skin. Could be just a lack of ability or issues above the shoulders that can't be fixed.

The task at hand is huge and I'm worried for my footy club, but we will just have to wait and see what changes Roos makes and hope like hell that our recruiters have their game face on.

Its time for a major cleanup. A majority of the players just dont care, they have been through season after season of being demorisised that it no longer hurts. I see a future with the following players however every other player should be traded/delisted/retired.

Keep: N.Jones (heart and sole of the club, a keeper but I wouldn't blame him if he left for a premiership. He certainly deserves to play in a competitive team), Dunn, T.McDonald, Salem, Hogan, Viney, Frawley, Tyson, Michie, Vince, JKH & Howe. Every other player, including Grimes, Watts, Trengove, Toumpas etc should all be released from the club!

We all need to stop thinking Roos will be the complete answer to all of our problems. It's time to bring in the heavy shrinks. Some of our recent recruits need to be shown the door right now, because they will always be happy just getting a cheque. Play the kids and eject the nuffies coz we have way to many spongeball players who just don't give a feck. The club must surely realise that membership growth is years away due to the pathetic, inept, heartless, embarrassing and shamefull displays that they have served up for several weeks now.

It is also time to start naming names and not bleating that tired old cliche` "Stick with us, we will come good soon"!

Some public truths need to come out and not that disingenuous support for players who simply do not care much for the jumper they wear! Get rid of any player who wont sign on again during a season. We need committment.

The senior club management need to show enough toughness to be heard proclaiming that these continual lack of onfield efforts will not be tolerated for a single second , anymore.

"What do we stand for? " is a question that the players need to publicly answer.........................or are they too soft to answer that query?

Simply ashamed at the moment, to admit I still follow the Dees! Perhaps the players would like me to eat these words that I have now heard uttered from so many Dee followers.

I may get shot down for this but I honestly would throw Howe up for trade and see what we can get.. He was deplorable earlier in the year up forward and has shown glimpses down back but he isn't a defender, too often he should punch and he tries to mark.. His disposal is pretty average and is one of the main offenders turning the ball over in the back half. Either move him forward next year or try and get something for him because he ain't cutting it down back

I much as I love him, i agree. He may have been better if our FWD line was Hogan Clark Dawes Watts etc but can"t handle a big defender..

Funny how things change quickly. At the end of last year most of us thought our back 6 was solid and our front 6 was dangerous, but our midfield was woeful. fast forward 9 months, our mids look OK our forwards are woeful and our back 6 is down to a solid two with a bloke that is good but panicks everytime he gets the footy.

All of the sudden we go from have a few holes to fill, to a hell of a lot with nothing coming through.

Three defenders short, three forwards short, three mids short and a second Ruckman/forward(Gawn will be our No1 ruckman next season)

At Casey on the weekend Hogan, Toumpas and JKH add in Pederson, that's it. Our injury list isn't long, in fact no one on that list makes a difference.

Almost half a side is just not up to it with only 4 possible players that may get to the standard. For all people that believe our list is OK it is far from OK, Western Bulldogs list is OK if you are a Bulldogs supporter you are excited by your list, ours is depressing.

I am still seething after what can only be described as a deplorable effort yesterday. Like a few others on here, I seriously think that a majority of this current list need to be turned over. The untouchables for me are Nathan Jones, Vince, Tyson, Michie, Gawn, Hogan, Dawes, Jetta, Dunn, Viney, Salem, Cross and Howe. in all honesty, the rest can be shown the door, I would rather go to the WAFL, VFL and SANFL and get ten blokes on the cusp of AFL that really want an opportunity to play for the MFC and would show desire and hunger for the contest, right now wee have a bunch of blokes just happy to be calling themselves AFL footballers. I would look at guys being pushed into retirement at other clubs and offer one year contracts. Just to add leadership and a fresh attitude.

Tom McDonald, as much as he does right, is an out an out liability. He constantly f...s up. never learn from his mistakes, why he thinks he can take guys on every time is beyond me. jack grimes is useless, horrid foot skills and general decision making ability. Trengove is slow. Toumpas weak. Garland gone backward and was only am honest trier anyway. Frawley has already left. Matt Jones is useless. Riley notice better. Bail blease tappscott Strauss are all gone without question. Add Evans and nicho to that group.

Guys that I would have question marks over; Pedo (thought he had beengoodbthis year) and Jamar.

In all honesty would anyone have a problem with axing twelve guys and looking to bring in a complete new list. Roos has a history with taking fringe talent and making them believe, this group has lost belief, it will take a radical decision to redirect this ship

This performance has set us right back to the darkest days of last season. Difference is, there was some hope of positive change back then. The last few rounds of this season was supposed to give us some positives in hope for a better next season. The players just don't give a fark. Instead of gutsing it out they turn to complete jellyfish. What kind of merde exists in their heads to put in rubbish performances against sides we should be able to beat yet mostly play reasonable against better sides? The cynic in me is starting to think there is something corrupting going on. Its going to be a miserable post season for supporters with nothing to keep up enthusiasim.

this is, very, very true. Many of the heads that will roll at seasons end DID NOT play yesterday, and to be honest haven't played much this season. There are a lo of players who have been given a huge amount of opportunity and game time, that will stay.

The more I think about it the more I'm starting to think we could see players like garland, Howe, grimes, watts thrown up for trade. Delisting likes of Nicholson, Mckenzie, Blease etc isn't a clean out and while it's an improvement to the overall list it's not going to translates into changing the on field performance when like I said they didn't even play... Some BIG statements/changes need to be made and while those players I mentioned above will be delisted that's not really making big changes Edited by JV7

Maybe "its not cricket" to say this, but some of our recent results seem like they have some engineering going on. More likely I'm just looking for a conspiracy to explain away what are trully inexplicable performances. Then again I could have made a lot of money betting on score spreads that give the best value involving our games recently. Edited by america de cali

Guys like Mckenzie Blease Evans Nicho Strauss may not have played yesterday but clearing those guys out and bringing in some actual talent may squeeze out a few blokes who played yesterday or at least create competition for spots. Something has got to give and as far as I am concerned a mass clean out is called for

 I have to laugh!!

Everyone says clean out lets trade and get rid of the Garbage

The whole point is: the meaning of a trade is to get something in return of equal value if not better

Thats okay from our perspective obviously we want something better , but truly in all honesty ??

Who would trade anything for the bunch of hacks we currently have playing football for us , I cant see why anyclub would want to trade with us unless they have even worse hacks

And to be honest there are not to many clubs that have as bad as hacks as what we do at the moment . :(

As I said before I look forward to getting my Free membership in the mail :)

Ill take a full picnic lunch in the future and a good book to read . Oh and every now and then Ill put my head up when the opposition gets the ball, nothing like some lighthearted

entertainment on a weekend afternoon

Everyone of those guys would have been far better than M Jones, Barry, Frawley, Garland and Salem yesterday.

Salem I will forgive because he is a kid who should be playing VFL but the rest were useless.

How does Barry get a game and why was he given a new two year contract?

I have never seen a body that looks less like an AFL player than his, just as well it was not windy yesterday or he would have been blown out into Punt Road.

Right now I am getting a little worried no one will take Frawley Honestly he has stopped caring about 2014.

Play anyone else, Why not play Fitzy one would think he will at least want to be out there.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
