Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

King says

- pick 3 and 21

- chip leaves, get pick 4

- pick 20-25 for Watts (Maclure said don't trade him)

- Toumpas on the table, King says Port's first pick, possibly not on his own, and Maclure thinks he's worth 2 or 3rd round

- Trengove or Grimes for a second round pick, upgraded first round pick alongside Watts / pick for Watts

Interesting.

I hate to say it but these blokes just look for headlines. Sellars Maclure said as much during an Open Mike interview.

Those stats about last quarter pressure aren't irrelevant but they don't take into account the context of the situation that Roos walked into. From 2012-13, last quarter fadeouts and reduced pressure then were irrelevant as we weren't in the game to start off with.
I would ask David King what he actually suggests we do? When he carried on about Neeld, he wouldn't just come out and say he should be sacked. I would say he is pulling a similar performance again to get his name in the paper.

It's just pot stirring. We have set forth a plan. The plan has been given 3 years. Roos has always said the plan was to move us away from being a 2 win, 50 percent team. As far as I can tell, we have achieved that fairly simple goal. It's not time to panic and lose our s*** about what two blokes who sound more like the following video than serious footy commentators.

Trengove and toumpas have far too much theoretical upside to trade for a bad pick, watts and grimes might fetch a better deal

I think our attacking game suffered because of our skill errors and Hogan being injured

Well that was a joke, trade young players to get more young players well that makes sence

I don't think it was a joke. Definitely worth some thought. If Roosy doesn't see Toumpas/Grimes/Trengove as part of the future we should put them on the table.

I agree with Maclure, I'd keep Watts.

Much honesty and common sense from King and Mclure.

Think PR is already going to go down that track anyway.

Thank god it wasnt a DL poster that wrote this.

They would be scolded by the gin drinkers.

Please kingy, dont give up on extolling your ideas about our club.

King and Maclure FMD!!! About the only positive in those two is that they are marginally better than Robbo.

They are all headline hunters. There are so many journo parasites sucking off the AFL, the only way to get attention is to have a bigger mouth/headline.

They are all mostly bull shite.

The other thing I find interesting is the doomsday vibe they seem to be thrusting on us, I think its been a Much improved year with good indications after another change over and pre season we will be in a good position

Why give up on Toumpas yet? At no stage did King acknowledge his surgery/illness setbacks. He just said he hasn't been playing. Did he even know of them?

I think we need to give Watts another year under Roos. He has shown SOME intermittent signs this year of the penny dropping. That said, Pick 20 or thereabouts would give pause for thought.

It would be a heartbreaker if Trenners was traded after his foot surgery and went on to star for another club. I seriously doubt he's going anywhere so it's a moot point.

It's a discussion that needs to be had, but I don't think King provided the answers. Being bold is one thing, but sacrificing two young talents (picks 2 & 4) with everything still ahead of them isn't helpful and isn't going to happen I wouldn't think

Yeah let's trade out talented players for more high end speculative draft picks. Worked for us in the past.

King is an idiot. We should do the opposite and follow the same strategy as this year and trade early picks for ready made talent. That's being bold

Seriously, I can't believe people are getting their knickers in a knot.

The whole thing was not what we should do, it was a bold idea of fast tracking and a way to get 5 picks in the top 20ish.

So, going along with what was asked, Kingy came up with a way to achieve it.

Other than Toumpas, a lot of people have said to trade Trenners, Grimes and Watts at various times.

Watts and Grimes? I don't think it's an issue to trade either but I would more reticent to trade Grimes.

Toumpas? The jury is potentially out if he has another year like this one (before injury). He was struggling to get into the firsts and his name wasn't being bandied about much for senior recall.

Trenners? No. The club dumped a boat load of pressure on him by giving him the captaincy. He has potentially played injured and as soon as he takes a year off to get his body right (meaning he sees himself as a part of our long term future), we trade him away. That would send a bloody horrible message to the group and the AFL in general.

Based upon following the 'logic' of King's thinking, what about:

3 and 21, plus 4 when Frawley goes.

Trade Toumpas gives us pick 14 from Port - I'd do that before his value falls

Grimes and Watts to Footscray or Carlton - instead of say an Essendon, who hold around pick 12 - for pick 5 or 6 and a player who can be straight into 22, say Dalhaus / Wallis / Hunter from Footscray, or Levi Casboult (who I doubt Blues would give up)?

That'd leave us with 3 and 4, 5/6, 14 and 21.

I would then look at trading 4 and 5/6 for another couple of ready made body, Shiel being the one I would love to get, plus another (say Jaksch or Tomlinson, O'Rourke).

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
