Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

every year we lose someone because of free agency and I mean a key person. Can clubs start picking on other teams. Although if someone does want to give frawley a 7 year deal then good luck to you,

Who are the key people we have lost to FA? Think carefully here.

I just heard Garry Lyon on AFL Access All Areas say that Frawley wants 7 years and that it isn't gonna happen at Melbourne. I'd be more than happy to keep him on, but a 7 year contract would keep him on until he is 33. Seems a big call.

http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-07-21/fletch-done-and-frawley-is-going

Agree.

We should offer him 4, so he drops to 6 and then we can meet at 5 that I'd think is fair.

7 years is ridiculous, although if someone does give him 7 we're a shoe in for band 1 compo.

This isn't shopping in Bali. If he wants to stay here is a 3 year contract if you want 4 okay we will look at it but the annual figure will be less

7 years is just plain silly and the longer this drags on the more Chip is damaging his brand. Hope he frightens off potential suitors and he is forced to accept a decent slice of humble pie.

Buddy Franklin he ain't so he's delusional if he feels he is entitled to a similar deal.

Even 5 would be well over the odds. 3 years it would have to be.

Understand what u r saying but we have Mr Bean developing and the way Roos style of play is that the mids help a hell of a lot in the defensive area.

Work as a TEAM not as individuals as we have been doing in the past.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Roos knows exactly what is going on (without being told directly) and is already planning for it.

I have enormous confidence in Roos and what he will be able to do with the compensation pick and the team next season.

And you honestly think with chip leaving it will be all sweet because we have a mature 187cm tall defender in the twos that will just come in

And slot straight into the side? If you have your hopes pinned on him then it will be another long and painfull season again.

Will be a massive loss and will leave a whole in our structure in terms of big solid tall defender.

Dale Thomas (2 years older than chip) got a 700k p.a., 4 year deal. I wouldn't think it's delusional to expect something similar to that.

Read his article on the MFC website, if you are annoyed by something put an end to it.

The things he says just make me cringe.

He's a seriously dumb bloke and it's getting on my nerves.

Again, he could have held back on certain things in that interview, but no, he prefers to speak before he thinks.

Please leave Frawley. If you haven't decided by now, then I have no faith that you'll help turn this club round.

He's a passenger of the highest order. Give me the PP.

Sylvia that's worked well for freo. A few clubs will have noted that.

reckon Sylvia's career over in two years, he made big mistake leaving Demons................also if Frawley wants to go reckon not to much to worry about if we get 1st round pick......

You have serious hate issues for that man.

Exactly what did he say in the interview that he "spoke before he thinks".

And again letting your hate get in the way of rational thought. He is not a passenger of the highest order. He shanked a couple yesterday but most reporters/observers who dont carry the same hate had him in the top 5 or 6 for us yesterday.

I get you question his commitment and refusal to sign and that frustrates you - I also believe that he in all likelyhood is gone but I don't let this cloud my thoughts - a passenger of the highest order ?

Hate? I wouldn't say hate.

Am I annoyed? Yes. Do I think he is a pea brain? Yes. Do I think he'll help the club move forward? Definitely not.

I want people and players who care about the club, and I'm sick of hearing him talk about the contract.

He's a passenger because it's clear his mind is elsewhere and he doesn't want to help this club get back up.

He's playing for himself, he's thinking of himself and I can't wait to get a PP for him and see what magical trade we can make or player we can pick up.

His performance yesterday showed a deficiency in our current forward structure (with Hogan missing) - a contested marking tall with pace and mobility.

Dawes and Pederson are extremely hard workers and lead hard at the footy but they lack the pace to get off their men to take lead up marks in space. Watts has the pace and mobility but hasn't been a contested marking threat.

Frawley was pretty important for our structure yesterday in that he used his pace and marking strength to provide that link coming out of defence.

The problem is, while he is very good at getting the ball, his use of the footy is poor. Unreliable set shot for goal and lacks that ability to swing round after taking a mark and hit up a leading player inside 50.

He could have had an extra two goals yeterday and one or two additional assists but for poor ball use.

As I have stated previously, Geelong Bound, influenced strongly by his association with great mate Jarryd Rivers, 6- 7 year deal around the 6, 650 mark is my belief!

Can't see why Rivers would be actively recruiting someone to take his spot.

Reckon the pecking order would be Taylor, Mackie, Lonergon, Rivers ATM.

If Chip comes in could make it interesting for Rivers.

It is not clear his mind is elsewhere - he is not just playing for himself. He is playing some useful football albeit with the limitations as Scoop highlighted.

Steve - compare your post to Scoops post. You continue to suggest you don't have hate issues but continually make these wild assertions that are clearly tinged with your dislike for him.

I don't think there should be a rule about contract lengths, if a club is willing to risk paying a player for 7 years, 9 years or whatever then so be it.

All it takes is one injury in the 1st year of their contract and its all over, wasted money.

Kouta was a perfect example of long contract, bad injuries, nothing in return.

I agree, I think 4 Yr deals are fine for those We really want to come over to us, & for our A graders? I'd give 5 to Danger, the only one in this years reckonings. & possibly Prestia?

I don't have a problem with people suggesting his in THAT good. I can see his obvious flaws. Read through some of the posts on here though - he is not THAT bad.

If indeed he is asking for a 7 year deal - he is definitely not that good.

surely that just brings the yearly average down, & front end the deal. If they think he'll play for 6 Yrs, work out what that totals worth to you, then average that over 7 Yrs to get the contract amount, in case you need to pay him out ?

I'd be happy if we offered him 5 years at $450k-500k .. I think he is very valuable to us up forward, his constant leading up the ground providing a target coming out of the back half makes us a much better side. People who say his not playing for the team atm, just watch him and how hard he works up the ground. If he didn't give a stuff he wouldn't be putting in the hard yards, unless his trying to play well to bump up his value. I really don't know what he's gonna do, earlier in the year I thought he was staying, mid year he was gone and now I'm swaying back to staying... Who knows

I also have a mate who works for the club. Wouldn't think he would know the ins and outs but he said a few weeks ago it was 50/50, he loves the club but at 26-27 can he go somewhere else and play finals and that's what his weighing up

I get your point. I guess every year we have lost someone to FA. at the time and I stress at the time and not now it was disappointing to lose moloney and rivers. Not so much Sylvia. Actually someone said on the weekend Sylvia wouldn't even get a game at melbourne now. Which is probably true.

Lets say he is worth $600K for 4 years - he would be looking for more than $342K for 7 years. I simply dont like paying a 7 year deal unless it is for the same you would pay for 4 years - it wouldn't be the case.

they could offer him $3,000,000.00 over 5yrs, or just say $430,000.00 per year over 7yrs, front ended ?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
