Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?

Must say - I read his comments on the AFL app and immediately had terrible flashbacks.

Of course, there are different circumstances and the like but nevertheless the thought crossed my mind.

I genuinely think he is surprised just how bad this team is.

Fair enough comment by Grant Thomas.

If Roos won't commit, why should Frawley or Scully or any other of the vfl players we have signed up.

I agree with that part Biff.

I don't agree with the 'shifting' the blame bit or sounding like Neeld bit. You need to remember that the club was an amazingly divided place upon his arrival. His actions ended up aggravating those divisions.

Will be interesting to see how Roos responds. He is used to have unbroken linear success as a coach. He did go through the dark days of Fitzroy as player so he should know whats its like to be player at a club on the skids. Big challenge for him.

From what Derm said on SEN, Roos gave them a good serve after the game. Maybe the anger hadn't subsided by the time he got the presser.

But seriously the skills were so poor I'd be [censored] off too...wait I was.

AFL footballers should be able to hit a target two meters away, and the fact they couldn't...

I am a little concerned hearing this. I thought Roos was big on not spraying players directly after the game as that, in his words, is the time relationships can be permanently broken.

Clearly didn't watch the game did our boy Cherny

I find it amusing that anyone that watched us v WCE can give a pass mark to any more then a handfull of players

I don't understand soceity these - since when is someone else responsible for someone elses effort or ability

Colin that performance deserved an almighty spray. There is nowhere to hide.

If the Captain believes players didn't try then it is open slather in my book

I think that a few home truths needed to be told but I'm a little more concerned that it was straight after the final siren.

It needed to be said eventually but I think timing was the issue. Roos has always been about clear thinking and I hope that he thought through everything he said.

It's about time that the real problem is focussed upon, and with it the responsibility and blame go towards. The playing group. It doesn't matter if you have all the best coaches with an unlimited amount of $$ to spend on development, if the playing group as a whole have the wrong/lazy/ignorant attitude, nothing will improve, the cracks will just be painted over.

This football club needs to become extremely stringent, so much so that even before players' walk in through the door, they know they have to earn every dollar of their contract. These players are getting paid premium dollars, yet they are continually putting in sub-standard performances. Since when is putting in less than 100%, or their absolute best 100% of the time, less than adequate?

If they were in any other industry, they would have been shown the door long ago. I know it's wrong to single out one player, as many are guilty, but i'll use Frawley as an example. He is going to be demanding quite a contract come years end, but does he deserve it? No. He continually chooses when to put in a good game or bad game, or whether he will put in 100% or not.

That simply isn't good enough. This is the highest level in the world where a person can play aussie rules. Nothing less than there absolute best is acceptable! Do they not realise that it's a privilege to play at the highest level? How many people try to get on to an AFL list, and how many actually make it?

i was pretty clear with what was going on after 10 minutes of the first Quarter.

Roos had more than 2 hours to see what was going on.

Enough is enough Colin. The back bone of this list has had the same attitude since 2011.

It's just all too hard.

I really like this post you've summed up some of my thoughts really well

The problem is from an outside POV it looks like some players think it's just going to happen - they'll be good one day or it's the clubs fault that they're poor players

After 5 or 7 coaches or whatever figure it is over the past 5 years (including the fill ins) it is pretty clear the majority of the blame lays with the players or their ability or their attitutde toweards AFL footy

IF anyone can argue that Roos isn't getting the best out of the players then the MFC is f'd and we might as well fold because we won't win games for years to come. The mistakes players made on the weekend are unacceptable at AFL level and they continually make them over and over again year after year..... dropping marks, missing kicks, fumbling, missing tackles it's a disgrace

Sure they need edcuatoin and guidence but f me there has to be a line drawn and if you can't do the basics you won't play

I know you will take up the challenge of arguing for the sake of arguing but here goes.

I don't doubt that something needed to be said to the players. However, I DO hope Roos didn't go in there all guns blazing, with his mouth running off before his brain.

It seems also a little strange and a little concerning that Roosy has broken the one rule he has set since he started coaching 'Don't blast players after the final siren.'

That's is a fair call. But when the Captain says to a news reporter that he didn't believe the team tried then we have a different set of circumstances.

The players have to take full responsibility here.

Party is over.

That first quarter was as bad a first quarter as I have ever seen from us. A spray is well deserved. I understand players may have past grievances but if they have now found a new grievance I would be very disappointed and what the hell do they want if so? I am also scratching my head as to why it is most of our highly players that seem to have issues for whatever reason.

At the end of the day will it make a difference?

How much worse can they play after that spray? Surely you can't accept that performance on the weeked? I know we're starting a long way back but that performance on the weekend from a professional club can not be tolerated as the performance the MFC serves up each week.

At least Paul Roos now truly knows what he is dealing with... Im more confident that he can identify major issues, now that this capitulation has happen while He was in charge.... Im not sure if he can fix our problems? Who knows? It might be to late?

Paul Roos is one of the best, coaches in Australia.... I think we are good hands... And I'm sure he wont stop until the problems are identify and removed...

When it came out of Neelds mouth he sounded like an arrogant turd

When u hear Paul Roos speak it's totally different. He has runs on the board.

Not even in the same class and it's an insult that they compare the two.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
