Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That's true but when election time comes around all the members money, irrespective of who they support, goes to the Labor Party.

But you're right, I don't really care that much anymore and I'm not going to argue for the sake of it, it's too hot.

you have to have balance...

the storeman packers, continually gave funding to Uncle Tony's parte`, not to mention running favors for the Libs.

all those rich companies who send their thanks in padded envelopes to the LiBs fundraisers for election favoritisms.

alan jones has a crook for his beloved blue blooded LiBs. & tends to favor them in his monolectures & in his fun draising campaigning on their behave's.

so in an demo cracy, their does need to be balance to find a harmony.

Well not quite right I think.

Not All the members money goes to the labour party. While it would seem unlikely to go to the Libs just that part that is designated by the members to pursue their political advantage will be given. The ETU (a union) does support parties other than Labour,

Sorry the heat affects you and certainly dont want to indulge in an argument for the sake of it either so as I said best to leave it

Robbie as you can probably guess again I think you are on the wrong tram (or should I say tunnel). If I was interviewing teachers for a position I would be looking less at their academic scores and more at their rapport with children and their passion for their subject. Have they worked with kids previously, coaching sport part time, something that indicates their commitment and enthusiasm for teaching and working with kids? High IQ's and exceptional study scores are one thing but not necessarily an indicator of a great teacher. If they can inspire a child to be as good as they can be, the teacher has achieved much more than some highly intelligent graduate who cannot relate to their class.

why do we need high IQ teachers who are teaching fairly basic level curriculum that anyone with a degree could understand. The real skill is being able to impart knowledge to others and Can inspire others.

Our different opinions may stem from the emphasis on content versus process. I think the content, the curriculum is secondary. The process is all important. Teachings kids to analyse things, how to solve problems and think for themselves is important but not as important as building their self confidence and ability to communicate and work with others. You don't need Einsteins to deliver this.

Great post mate. I agree, when I was at school one of the things I hated the most was the fact they tried to "teach" us by teaching us what to think rather than teaching us how to think.

Agreed, it's as if people think there is some big conspiracy that the "left" are trying to infiltrate students minds and they only hire people from the "left". If the "right" want to see "right" ideologies taught then people of the "right" should become teachers.

It's a false premise anyway. I went to a school where the arts (music, drama Etc) were prioritised over the traditional subjects however I had a number of teachers (mainly my Business Studies, Economics, Accounting etc teachers) who would be classified as "right" or at the very least "centrist". None of the teachers ever pushed their views on us though besides the odd comments here or there and were often at pains to get us to create our own thoughts about issues (probably contradicting somewhat what I said previously haha).

I think you'll find that when they started out they were committed but after a short time at Melbourne that commitment would have dried up.

If you are a teacher and you have the commitment then it would take a Melbourne type situation to suck that commitment out of you.

Anyway the results speak for themselves; we are not keeping up with the smarter nations.

Assuming that is true, don't you think the parents might have some responsibility for that? You can't just point the finger at the teachers as though they are solely responsible for how your kid turns out. There are rubbish teachers out there but there are also plenty of rubbish parents and students.

One of my best friends was told by his teachers in year 9 that he was wasting his time at school as he was just not up to it.

He left, became a cabinet maker and has never regretted his decision, or their frankness. Pete's about 63 now so it was quite some time ago; imagine if they tried to say that to a student now.

A couple of friends of mine were told the same thing in Year 11, this was in 1999 so not that long ago I wouldn't have thought.

Funny you should say that, one of my sons dropped out of Law to go to the Victorian College of the Arts and lasted less that a year because he couldn't put up with the left wing B/S the tried to ram down his throat; he couldn't believe how political it was.

What you have to also understand that what is regarded as acceptable to some, is not necessarily acceptable to someone else, if you have a leftish outlook it may be just par for the course, if you come from the right it may be offensive.

I don't recall saying that, but they have to bear a great deal of the responsibility for their academic progress; that's what they get paid for, they aren't there as baby sitters. There are a lot of bad kids about now and I guess they all know their "rights", so they don't have to take as much notice of the teachers as they did when I was at school.

Anyway, if teachers don't have the commitment they shouldn't be there; equally if they don't have the intelligence, they shouldn't either.

Left, right, left, right...yo left, yo left, yo left, right, left..

I think anyone who is deemed "left" should be ordered to wear an "L" around their neck, preferably one made out of a heavy metal.

They can be pelted with tomatoes in the street for basically being the root cause of all that is wrong with society, including corrupting our children and producing a generation of lefty, brainless scum.

If you thought Abbott and Costello was a comedy team you can see we are flooding the market.

was it just me or did anyone else delight in the morrison and the general show today.

We apologized for inadvertently breaching our sovereign borders policy. Its a pity our navy doesnt know where our boats are so keep a look out and help the board of review who will let us know shortly.

We did not fire any shots in pursuit of our sovereign borders policy, not even inadvertently or at least no board of review has needed to be established so thats good.

We are determined to send a message to the people smugglers and put them out of business by pursuing our stop the boats policies. We may know where the boats are under this policy and we may have fired some shots under this policy but we havent had a board of review tell us yet.

maybe the Indonesian Police officers & some Indonesian Army personnel, who get money for tickets to a sailing adventure on a leaky boat sent southwards, should stop their Xploits,,,,,& just maybe some of those {fares} charged, by those officers, are finding their way 'kicked back' to some Indonesian Politicians.

the normal procedures would be to send those who aren't real tourists trying to enter a country such as Indonesia, back to their origin country. to deny them entry on their visa, into Indonesia at the Entry point... either at the Airport they flew in at... or at the Docks, when they disembark from the Ship they sailed into Indonesia on.

the only reason they wouldn't is because the Indonesians want to get their hands on these peoples money first. Or possibly they want to increase the numbers of Islam in the Australian continent?

.... either way is wrong on their part at their countries entry point where these people Fly in to Indonesia.

I think we should be taking good Buddhist people who are political refugees currently locked up in Indonesian & Malaysian jails.

..... instead of those who want to short circuit our refugee plans of the past, by paying fares to come across the skies & seas to, & then from Indonesia towards our sovereign shores, & then to force us Via media embarrassment to give them Visas.

I don't like much the Libs try to do, but I agree we should choose who we accept as refugees onto our shores.

what is wrong with these people from North Africa & the Middle East going to India, a close neighbor of their homelands, & global powerhouse, rich enough to have their Own Nuclear missiles.

The libs navy is a bit more posh- they smoke pipes and call each other chaps.

The Labour navy has too many tattoos and when they came to shore they would spend all their wages like a drunken you know what.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
