Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need to draft Sheed, WCE will be laughing if they're able to pick him up. Aish may have all the talent in the world but Melbourne needs to learn to stop recruiting skinny kids hoping they'll come on in a few years time. In the AFL you need hard bodies to compete otherwise your talent will get you nowhere. Look at Richmond, stopped goin after the Fiora, Tambling types and have gone for Martin, Conca and Vlastuin in the last few drafts, guys who can impact in their first season or two.

I reckon the 173 cm Lewis Taylor will potentially slide to our second pick at the start of the 2nd round, only because history shows.

Similar to Ruckman, clubs appear concerned about using their fisrt pick on a small/ short player (exc. Collingwoods picks 18, 19 and 20 in the 2012 draft).

Andrew Hooper 172 cm Joint Larke Medal winner 2010: Slid to #35 in the rookies.

Ben Kennedy 174 cm. Another highly rated youngster: Slid to #19 in the 2012 ND.

Nathan Hrovat 174. Won the VM Metro MVP ahead of the likes of O'Rourke (ND pick #2) and slid to pick 21.

If we have the chance of obtaining Taylor with our second pick I would be stoked if the club snapped him up (obviously depended on who else may potentially slide).

The TAC Future Stars Panel went through the entire first round today with Gardner and Crouch dropping out of the top 10 and Zak Jones just making it into the first round although playing in a team that was so badly smashed today wouldn't have helped him much.

1. GWS TOM BOYD (Eastern Ranges)

2. Melbourne JAMES AISH (South Australia)

3. St. Kilda JOSH KELLY (Sandringham Dragons)

4. W Bulldogs MATT SCHARENBERG (South Australia)

5. Gold Coast JACK BILLINGS (Oakleigh Chargers)

6. West Coast DOM SHEED (Western Australia)

7. Brisbane BEN LENNON (Northern Knights)

8. North Melbourne LUKE MCDONALD (Oakleigh Chargers F/S)

9. GWS KADE KOLODJSHNIJ (Tasmania)

10. Collingwood MARCUS BONTEMPELLI (Northern Knights)

11. Richmond CHRISTIAN SALEM (Sandringham Dragons)

12. Carlton LEWIS TAYLOR (Geelong Falcons)

13. Port Adelaide BILLY HARTUNG (Dandenong Stingrays)

14. Sydney NATHAN FREEMAN (Sandringham Dragons)

15. Geelong DARCY GARDNER (Geelong Falcons)

16. Fremantle CAMERON MCCARTHY (Western Australia)

17. Hawthorn MATT CROUCH (North Ballarat)

18. Gold Coast ZAK JONES (Dandenong Stingrays)

Crouch at #17 is really a surprise.. had 25 possies on VFL debut this year. You'd think if he's there at #20, we would take him for sure. If we were to take Aish at #2, we would have to take an inside player at #20... Only recently has Jones moved from a back half to the middle, so I'm not sure if he is an inside player? Feel free to add info on this.. But one of crouch.Dunstan or, being an optimist, Freeman were there at #20.. you would think they'd be taken over Jones.

I usually get right into the draft. It's been one of the things that keeps me going in crappy years.

I'm finding it very hard to get into now that we have appointed Roo's. Its hard to know who to look at when your not sure if you are going to have first and second round picks.

I guess it will be a lot more exciting when the trading period is over.

This draft is relatively weak, with next year's billed as another "super draft".

It wouldn't be surprised to see us trade out of it to a certain extent.

Not overly excited by any players outside the top 5 this year.

Got a feeling if we keep pick 2 we may "reach" for Scharenberg.

I pray that we either receive a priority pick at the start of the second round. #19
or, if sylvia leaves a band 3 compensation pick that should wind up being #21
then Dunstan and Jones slide to out two picks at the start of round 2 to complement Aish

Collingwood MARCUS BONTEMPELLI (Northern Knights)

This kid is going to be something. He is very, very classy, a raking left foot and plays Wing/HBF. If he goes to Collingwood and learns of Pendlebuy watch out

Don't expect Jones to go first round. Just a lot of hype over the past few weeks. It will settle down. He will be there for our second rounder. Dunstan will also be there so here is hoping we do get another pick down there.

Sounds like we will get an end of 1st round PP now so that leaves us with 2,19,21 and somewhere around the 20-25 mark if Sylvia leaves.

Pick 2 for Swallow

pick 19- Zak Jones

pick 21- Luke Dunstan

pick 25- Blake Acres

The article in the Age this morning was pretty adamant that we would not get awarded a PP when the Commission meets today. I hope that your sources are more reliable that those of all the football journalists!

Just what was on the AFL website, I sorta figured an article like that being released at this point in time may be the AFL's way of getting people ready for what is probably going to happen with the PP.

Luke Dunstan shouldn't be picked any earlier than 30.

We'd take him at 20, big bodied midfielder.

I didn't think he was all that clean with his hands, but that said it's a weak draft for mine.

A player like Dunstan could have a ready made impact, if we were to take Aish or Kelly, then Dunstan would be a logical fit at 20.

If we're looking at inside mids i'd still personally rate Zak Jones ahead of Dunstan, if we lose Sylvia the compo may mean we get both which would be nice.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
