What do you think will happen if there is another 3 or 4 months of this?

The AFL will take away our licence?

A caretaker will be installed, a challenge will be made to the board in September (this things take a while to organise), and new leadership will be brought in then.

If we spill it all now we will have a Acting President who isn't ready for it, a CEO from inside the club who isn't up to it, and four months of a caretaker coach - which is a lifetime.

You think we will be considered a joke if we continue like we have, I am telling you that the joke will be confirmed if we spill everyone right now.

Instability and disunity midseason with costly firings.

We're beyond all that now. We are a joke. No ifs and confirmations required.

I'm not listening to these people anymore. The phone is dead and the cord has been ripped out of the wall.

Robert Walls and Rohan Connolly are already talking up the AFL stepping in. Others will follow in the coming days and weeks. Bitter pill as it is to swallow, I agree with them and I believe more and more MFC fans will come to that conclusion as well.

It's for our own good.

The club is destined to fold only IF it becomes financially unviable. We are going to need a lot of time to get out of this mess. Alot of time. the only way th e club will survive is if it can maintain a positive balance sheet for long enough to survive this "rebuild".

Thats where Fitzroy failed. They were financially unviable.

The call for supporters to not renew memberships, boycott games etc etc etc is as far as im concerned, cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Do these people really want to sit in their living room in a few years watchinng the Tassie demons play, thinking "there , i showed them! i told them i wouldnt renew if they didnt play better footy.!"

we have to circle the wagons here. Everyone on this forum has a love for the Club. We are the core group of supporters that the club needs now. Yes , the powers that be have F&%*ed the club up. I get it. But whats the point in punishing the "Club"? we need to remove these incompetent people but lets not make the problem worse by making rash decisions.

The time to show your emotion is in the stands. Outside the ground we need to think clinically and act in teh best interests of the club. Some of us have less power and influence than others, but we all need to do our bit.

Get around the boys, get to training, get to games, wear your jumper, buy a scarf, encourage the kids (show them videos of the 90s) , whatever it takes. fight hard for OUR club.

If we as members dont fight hard then I think we can almost be guarenteed that the Club we love will be a footnote in history in less time than we can imagine. The world of professional sport is racing forwards and is not sticking around for passengers.

Listened to SEN Auskick show this morning and two kids Jacob & Connor two young Dees discussing last nights game. They were disappointed and asked if they would continue to follow the Dees, they both shot back with of course we will be there next week because you never change teams.

Not sure how old they both were but from memory one was around 9 or 10. They reminded me of myself as a kid innocent and unhappy with a loss but looking forward to next week. Actually made me smile again this morning, just hope we turn around for these kids and others who may have only started following us in the last 6/7 years

Hey Benson I have 3 kids and the youngest is 7 months and he will support the Dees as the same as my other 2 kids.

As they say what doesn't kill u makes you stronger. By the end of it we (the Dees supporters) will be the strongest in the world.

Stick with it I know it's hard and pisses u off especially when u have to go to work but hey when it turns around and it will the satisfaction will be HUGE. Never forget the people that hang [censored] on u either for supporting the Dees as payback will be a [censored].

The club is in a bad way at the moment but i fail to see how supporters jumping ship will help things.What purpose will lowering the clubs membership numbers serve?Forget about coaches for a minute we need a clear out of the 186 tanking board.That lot need to be booted out of the club and replaced with competent admins asap.These people inflicted the tanking strategy,Dean Bailey and Mark Neeld on us.They have caused enough damage.The players efforts out on the pitch have been disgraceful.I would go as far as saying that we should give a few youngsters from Casey some gametime if only to make a point to the more experienced players.Finally if we lose to GWS then i can't see Mark Neeld surviving that.I think we might have made a mistake hiring Neeld in the first place but i hope he turns it around.I don't think he will though we have started the 2013 season with even worse performances than what we produced last year.That's a damming indictment on Mark Neeld as far as im concerned.Compare Mark Neeld to Brendan McCartney at the Bulldogs.They were brilliant last week against Brisbane.They were comfortably beaten yesterday by a very strong Fremantle team but their players never caved in,the effort and application was always there and they seem to have some good quality young players coming through.Why can't Mark Neeld get our players to play to their full potential every week?

The game against Essendon was the straw that broke the camels back. Watching the Demons just capitulate season after season, watching the players play with zero confidence, hearing all the rumors about division inside the club, watching players leave (not happy Scully left) is heart breaking & draining.

It was and is making me feel ill inside. Writing that I would send back my membership and allowing my son to decide who he wants to follow when he is ready, was/is a ridiculous comment made in the heat of the moment.

I was looking for my jogging beanie & gloves (yep im back to night running again) last night and found a box of my old demon merchandise. I found my membership scarfs and was immediately flooded with the good memories of the seasons past. I recall the glorious win over Sydney Swans, the come back against Freo @ the G with young Aussie celebrating his goals, The close win against the Crows where the Crows were depleted on the bench, and many more. I came to the realisation that, no matter what happens now, I will always hold the memories that count, and they are the ones that count. And they are the memories I want my son to have with the Demons

Well, it would appear that in spite of what you say, you DO consider them bigger than the club and hence your borderline psychopathic obsession with having them removed.

If you reduce the membership levels to a point where the club is really struggling financially, then regardless of what happens to the board, so much faith will have been lost that we will genuinely struggle to get that lost membership back any time soon. A direct consequence of that will be that we will once again be down the financial toilet and forced into a position where the club is begging for financial assistance from its member base.

It's harebrained ideas like this that leave me wondering whether you really are a supporter RR or simply a white ant in search of an army.

... this says to me he wants change but is reacting to the initial losses caused by the cleanout... its left us shallow onfield, thru our injuries to key personal, which has helped to cause the big losses.

We have played (4) first game players in our first 2 matches,,, {Viney, Toumpas, Terlich & MJones},,, let alone playing Key players, Not Match fit, due to others injuries...

If Dawes was fit to play Rnd 1,,, I'd say Clarke may have been kept out for another week to gain touch & fitness. We are sorely lacking leadership on the field, & with only a handful of true leaders & at least 2 are not fit.

add a couple of others who would make good scout jamboree leaders, Dunn, Watts ???

& a host of players who haven't shown they would Carry the Flag into Battle... have been missing in action!!!

... the first gamers can escape scrutiny from us supporters for the moment, but not too Long.

I note a mood of despondency and despair has descended over the supporter group. This is not the spirit at all, surely we at Melbourne are built of sterner stuff. In fact there are a number of positives and "learning”s that have emerged from the debacle.

• Friends and acquaintances are now too embarrassed to talk football with you. It was always painful talking football with Geelong Essendon or Colliwobble people anyway. They normally had gloating rights and in the case of the wobble people could hardly put two words together. Now most are too embarrassed or charitable to ring you -what a relief.
• You don’t have to buy a new tie or scarf, especially if like me you only wear the tie on the Monday following a win. My present one is now securely stored in the back of a draw surrounded by camphor balls it will probably outlast both me and the club.
• Not having to plan your holiday to avoid a clash with a possible finals appearance in fact being able to choose your holiday at any time during the season without missing a win.
• Knowing that the MFC Centenary Port you were saving for a premiership celebration will be worth a mint by the time you decide to sell it as you will never get to open it.
• You can ditch the Foxtel subscription. Usually the outcome of intense negotiation with one’s spouse/partner.As both Melbourne’s play and endeavour are unwatchable the quid pro quo is that the need to watch reruns of Steve Irwin torturing wildlife or the Sullivans is obviated.
• The demise of the White Board, As if its inept use by politicians and excruciatingly boring trainers wasn’t bad enough the surely means it will finally disappear as a means of communication by football club CEOs.
• No more politically incorrect sponsors. Not having any sponsors takes care of the painful necessity of sacking ones who breach the current codes of political correctness.
• Back to Melbopurne's core business of raising funds for charities and special lunches for membership groups with the football being played descretely in the background - the eye candy of the AFL is our niche.
• Being able to knit useful items like tea cosies rather than beanies or scarves for the unfortunate innocents who may inherit this train wreck
• Drinking reasonably priced beer in glass at the local pub/ golf club or bowling green.

Now every Joe blow is talking us up as a genuine dominant team in the next couple of years. I look at Brisbane now and feel what they are going through right at this minute.

If its one guy that desperately needs Paul Roos its Brisbane.

Btw i dug this thread up to show the journey of hardship we have all been through. Im sure we have all thought of giving up but we all came through together.

I remember this day well. I took my then girlfriend (now wife) to that North game. She came wearing Melbourne paraphernalia at the start of the day and insisted she take it off as we were leaving lest someone see her and laugh at her.

Also seeing footage of that post match press conference, I remember why I have a great load of respect for Neil Craig for taking that job on for the period of time that he did. He was on a hiding to nothing in leading a team that was basically VFL level. While no club saviour, he stopped the place from completely imploding in 2013.

What PJ said in this interview is as relevant today as it was then. Yesterday's win wasn't created in a bubble. It was thanks to 3 years of investment in the basics (proper defensive structures, player development,  solid leaders, stable administration). It wasn't because the players tried really hard or wanted to win more than usual. 
However, as he said then, we were light years away from the kind of cultures that Geelong and Sydney had. We aren't at the promised land yet. I enjoyed the win. Now, it's noses back to the grindstone.

I have no doubt a period of success is just around the corner for us. We should all enjoy it, as threads like this show that those who have stuck around deserve it.  

But at the same time, threads like this should remind us to practice some humility - unlike some other club's supporters.

To me it's also becoming quite obvious that there are several current players that the present administration need to put under wraps to ensure that we don't lose their obvious talents later on in their careers, as has been the case before, especially to a self indulgent Hawthorn camp or anyone else for that matter. The importance of these people is their talents obviously, but also their contemporary outlooks on the modern game play.
