Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

OK. I wasn't asking you, but I'm glad you've taken the time to answer, unlike the poster who was asked. I don't think many would agree with you, but that matters little.

A question for you. If Connolly, or Bailey don't fight the sanctions what will your view be then ?

I remembered you were supporting Fans B-Bobs views of wanting to accept the sanctions & handover our people to the executioner.

A bit dramatic i would have thought. The executioner?

To be clear i believe we are not guilty of tanking (it is important to note that we have not been charged with tanking btw). Despite this i also support what the club is doing and working out a negotiated settlement. The two positions are not mutually exclusive.

As i have said there are no winners going to court and despite the fact we would have a great case we simply do not need the associated cost, distraction and drama. Nor do we need to make an enemy of the AFL (for starters imagine our draw next year if we get in a stoush with them - lots of interstate travel i would think).

I think the AFL will make it clear the club has been found not guilty of the charges (and that there is no evidence of tanking ie players trying to lose) but that key personnel (perhaps working on their own initiative and certainly without support from the club) encouraged some practices that sit outside normal list management practices. The fine will relate to the club not reigning that in. I suspect the fine will be $500 k with half suspended.

If we end up without next years draft being compromised that will be a huge, huge win. We will have a top 5 pick to go with Hogan who will be cherry ripe. That works for me.'And obviously for the club as clearly they have been working on a negotiated settlement.

But lets see. If the wording isn't spot on and the penalties end up being more severe that has been suggested then sure, going to court should be considered, but only as a last option.

Seriously what? I don't find anything shocking about that, unless you're saying you're shocked Sam has to stand up for Jim to the media, and if that's your point then I'm with you on that.

Yup that's what I meant...The media are now asking the wife of our dead president on whether a shambles of an investigation will tarnish his reputation as a person. FFS

And the AFL will align such transgression with which rule?

Whatever transpires today will not affect my support for the MFC. If we cop a fine then I will trust that the board have well and truly judged it to be worth not pursuing complete exoneration any further.

In my conversations with friends and supporters of other clubs, it is widely accepted that the MFC is a scapegoat and that many other clubs have manipulated their seasons in order to gain a higher draft pick and ultimately the PP. It grinds my gears no end that we are taking the brunt of this farcical issue that was spawned by the AFL itself but the sooner it's concluded and removed from media circles normal routine will resume and the H&A season will be upon us.

We have a new footy club.

Let's show the competition and the DH's at AFL headquarters that the MFC is on the rise by playing hard-ball on the field rather than in the court rooms.

I didn't ask you whether we "tanked".

My question to you is did the club deliberately try and lose any matches in 2009 ?

Everything is relative, & as far as hard draws are concerned it would harden us up.

those who can learn to overcome hardship, make the best warriors.

the possible imbalance of draws, would be a temp thing.

When we start to play great footy they will be no choice but to play us on the big stage.

Its time we flagged to the footy world, we have arrived & will no longer be the fallguy of the AFL & their pets.

Fight it, & take them to task publicly.

If they charge our friends, we should back them to the Hilt on their decisions. If they want to fight we should back them.

FFS BH, can you stop asking everyone the same question over and over. You don't even care what other people's opinions are anyway!

What's the difference?????......I don't think we could afford to win, given the rules in place at the time........I just want to be treated with the same govenence as the rest of the competion......

What i cannot work out is...If Bailey is suspended from the game who was our head coach, this implicates he was part of match fixing.

This must jepordize our gaming licences at the two club venues.

If anybody can assure me those licences are going to be ok i will feel a lot easier.

Otherwise we just have to fight this....

Thats my only concern, if we lose those licences were finished.

Surely if the outcome has been negotiated we will not be named as match fixers and will keep those licenses. If we are then it could be a fight we have to win.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
