Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The club has asked us to assist with our D2D** activity again this year.

If you want to help the club you can assist by:

++ Offering yourself as a volunteer for evening work at the club offices

++ Onforwarding this opportunity to other supporters.

We need 20 new supporters to make this work. Training & support is provided.

A great opportunity to get inside the club.

** Evenings at the club offices phoning up supporters & encouraging them to rejoin.

Reply to wadeallen1@bigpondDOTcom Or talk to Fiona in membership at the club. Geoff/19.

To try & get at the Demon non-internet population we are producing a card that will set out the volunteering opportunity.

If you can put a few of these cards into other Demon hands plse let us know. Training! NAB cup matches! Your network!

After printing, we will then get you to contact the club membership & have them posted.

Stay in touch here &/or email me to receive updates - see above.

Only 5 volunteers last (wed) night but 33 sign ups was fantastic.

Well done to this team.

We REALLY need to get the volunteer number up to 10+ so Mon/Tues next week???????

50+ sign ups would really put smiles on the dials of the membership team.

Good project going well. Just needs to expand.

Welcome to the new volunteers including Michael & Peter.

Monday 18th & we took another step forward with 45 sign up from 8 volunteers.

The club project that they will get about another 150% today/tomorrow directly from the messages & prompts we left.

So my calculation is that we added a 100+ members to the tally as of last night alone.

If anybody can assist in helping us get up to 15 volunteers for the clubs 15 lines - boy would it be appreciated.

An excellent night with 37 sign ups & an interesting number of responses requesting we call them early next week for a sign up. I have 3 in hand.

The club's phone will be buzzing this morning. (pat on back)

Stephie Powell is genuinely keen to help & gets to many games with his 5 year old, who has special needs. He reads this site, so its good if we Tx him. He is a funds investor with a major bank & an aspiring golfer when time allows.

We had to hot seat last night as several staff were back getting on top of membership applications. However it would be great if we could exceed the 15 line capacity & create an off the bench night.
"Geoff OFF, Michael your are ON for ten. Go".

30 dial ups x 2 hours x 15 volunteers = 900 calls. What a target!!!!!

Confirming we are operating tonight & tomorrow (Mon/Tues).

Bridget Hanson is the club official overseeing.

Interestingly the clubs request is to maximise the number of message we leave. Our efforts arecreating a strong run on effect the next day, which boots up the moral of the membership team.

C U there team. Geoff

The volunteer membership program is confirmed for Tuesday & Wednesday nights.

Membership mgmt has suggested a 5.30pm meeting to handle the tougher calls with unhappy members. However, make it when u can.

Amidst the anguish I think we wil find many supporters who recognise that this tough time is a good time to offer up supporter = membership.

You guys & your bleeding comments are not helping those of us who are making an effort in difficult times.

Not clever & not helping our club!!!!!

You're right.

Deleted my post.

Good luck with the sign up.

Tough job.

Good on you.

Report from Tuesday night

Very interesting night with Stephen, Judy, Peter, Chelsea, Tim & Lorraine taking us to 7 volunteers for this Tuesday 2nd night of calling.

Plenty of negative feed back & bang/in your ear hang ups, BUT

A surprising number of people who said "I understand this is the time to support my club" & signed on the spot.

We got 38 sign ups - which is just under average & a surprising (17) number of people who confirmed details of membership required & asked for a call back from the staff Wed/Thursday.

A fantastic result & tim asked to thank gsmith for getting him up & going this year. Tx Graeme.

Wednesday night is going ahead & a couple more volunteers would be fantastic. Can u help???

Less said the better re on field, but the intention is to proceed Mon/Tuesday - tough as that will be.

The longevity of this program is the important factor & this appears to be a defining moment.

So, I will be there both nights & would appreciate your Yes/No to assist planning.

Appreciate if we can leave out the 'barb replies' here & a BUMP would assist to keep us up the top.

A great time for a freshy to come off the bench.

Await u replies.

Coming in on the train [Monday] I figured for maybe 5 volunteers .... & two would be crying before the night was out - I was going to be one!!

Arrived after 5.30 to a meeting area full of volunteers, plus two in club colours. Saw Mark Neeld & Neil Craig in the group & turned around thinking wrong office. But it was us. Mark & Neil really mixed into the group [team' photo will be posted] & boosted our project.

Punch & Judy wanted to sing the song, but fortunately .........

The night took off from there & we achieved 40 sign ups - nearly best for the year. Great under the circumstances.

Three new volunteers joined 'in our darkest hour' & Catherine, Cheryl & Dave did beautifully.

Tim, Julian, Geoff, Pete, Judy, Michael & Anne made up the quorum.

My feel is that many volunteers & supporters have traditionally been sitting on the fence. These 'dark cloud days' have shuffled the balance to the extent that we have many more deciding now is the time to sign &/or volunteering. [No doubt the despair group has also grown]. The net benefit is our group is stronger & growing.

Tx to Mark & Neil for coming along & genuinely getting involved.

Great night folks - well done. Lets go again.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
