Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The tanking enquiry was started almost six months ago when it was initiated by an employee of the AFL who is no longer there.

Will it claim more victims before the farce ends?

Andrew Demetriou said there was no such thing as tanking and yet it's taken all that time for his investigators to come up with a report that apparently contains allegations of some form of wrongdoing but only from disgruntled ex-employees with axes to grind against the MFC and with nothing substantiated by more important witnesses. By all accounts one of the ex-employees spent most of his final months blueing with all and sundry at the club. His evidence is likely to be considered biased and unsatisfactory. Will Demetriou fall on the sword with them?

And on the subject of blueing, Mike Fitzpatrick, a Rhodes Scholar and terribly conflicted because the AFL club with which he was associated has been untouched by this enquiry and yet, it is widely regarded that this club turned tanking into an art form. How can he therefore, play any role in any decision on this tanking enquiry?

Heckle and Jeckle, the two investigators have been accused of stand over tactics against some of the witnesses. Did they really need to resort to such questionable behaviour and why did it take them so long to finalise their work. How did so much information about their investigation find its way prematurely into the media?

Reputations are at risk and unless the AFL disposes of this mess cleanly, there will be more massive changes within the organisation.

You can bet on it!

Well said Spirit. When this all started we were shown the long mile.

But nothing substantial has surfaced.

The AFL made the rules.

Carlton & Richmond have way more to answer than the MFC.

Wallace admitted it for starters!!!

The OP asks something different about the tanking enquiry. It's looking at things from the perspective of the AFL's employees who might find themselves under pressure as a result of this long running saga.

Therefore, I don't think a merge is necessary.

Fair enough, Play on.

Should this all go pear shaped for us I would like to see the first Footy Classified of the new year have a guest list consisting of:

  • Terry Wallace

  • Tony Liberatore

  • Brendan Fevola
I'm sure there could be a few interesting lines of enquiry there for Caro to throw some blood in the water.

For "some reason" it never happened this year, so why would it happen next year.

Because it has not gone pear shaped yet.

My point is *should* things go bad, why should the other teams not be subjected to the same trial-by-media?

If we are charged then the hard questions should be asked of others too.

If, ultimately, there's no case to answer and the 'new' investigation essentially uncovers nothing new in a material sense (notwithstanding the NKVD tactics that have seemingly been adopted by our fearless investigators), I think the AFL should also look into the role that certain people in the media have had in fuelling the issue.

To date, the reporting on the issue seems wholly disproportionate to the evidence that's emerged in relation to the issue.

And it's that reporting that has had a significant role in bringing the AFL, and more particularly the MFC, into disrepute.

maybe the afl should investigate why they are so easily influenced by the media

problem is though that the AFL Media Centre IS now the biggest football media organisation

they would seem a tad conflicted, eh?

a bit like the central committee and pravda

The AFL wouldn't of done everything above board.

If we do get stung, there is going to be some loop holes we can surely exploit.

The AFL's gastapo tactics should leave them open for some counters in court.

Considering St Kilda, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Carlton, West Coast, Richmond and Fremantle have all tanked in the past, I struggle to understand why we are being targeted.

If found guilty of tanking, the stigma will be devastating to our brand.

Hopefully our legal beaks are pulling this so called evidence to shreds as i write this.

Haha the AFL sanctioning the media for its style of reporting.

Won't happen. The AFL love a back page scandal after the GF.

Any sanctioning will be done by the MFC.

How do you figure our brand will get stronger?

fighting for what we believe will make the club stronger.

For too long this club has existed on its past glory & has been slowly kicked sideways.

We are not owed anything. We must earn it.

Are you part of the investigating panel? At this stage no one is totally informed on what evidence has been put forward to the Commission.

Its ironic that you criticise the reporting and then you use that as a base to assess the evidence.

Any sanctioning will be done by the MFC.

Sanctoining of the media? I hope not. It might be good if elements within MFC dont leak to the press like they have done like sieves for the past 3 to 4 years.

Rubbish. Our brand will get stronger. The AFL or Vlad will have the dirt on their hands.

Wilson will be remembered for later.

Well....the brand could not be worse based on the past 18 months MFC circus. Let alone the rubbish we have served on the field.

This to me goes to the heart of the matter. The agendas; who's and why. We could get all Max and start concerning ourselves with the When and What but we'd probably end up under a cone of silence and in white jackets.

Seriously though. There's been a complete orchestration to all of this. Some , rather clever, folk have ensnared to the help , wittingly or otherwise, of the 4th estate as well as any grumbling ex Melbourne person they could buy a beer for. Add to this pyre the ego of Anderson.

It just seems that at any juncture where it ( the inquisition ) was about to fall over sure enough some revelation or leak appeared.

There's been collusion and scullduggery without doubt. This whole affair has been white-anted.

of course. The AFL have HOPED to uncover solid evidence of Tanking. As did Wilson in those early articles...whether she was feeding them or vice versa doesn't really matter.

The idea was too go flat out at the MFC and wait for the consequences.

But the MFC have stood still. One thing we do have is Lawyers.

Nothing has been uncovered that will stick imo. If it had we would know of it and the MFC would have stepped forward to soften the blow.

Did it cost Angry his job? Don't know and don't care. He was Vlad's lap dog.

Still I find it a struggle to reconcile the daily and hourly agonising dribble of " new revelations" of what was being " uncovered" on a minute-by-minute basis by the Inquisatorial Team about 5 weeks ago : --

AND NOW NOTHING !!!!

WHY oh why have these sources dried up?

Is it because the Chief Sheriff came back to Dodge City?

Somebody PLEASE EXPLAIN

I think the leaking was a total disgrace that has damaged us as a club considerably and THAT should be investigated
I'm not sure any of Caro's muck was leaked by anyone still in the club. She kept referring to unnamed former officials and former players who didn't want to be named - but I'm not sure any of her information came from current insiders. For our embittered former players and officials this is the last hurrah. Let's get this out of the way and move on.

If the AFL really want to clean things up they'll charge McLean with bringing the game into disrepute. They need to get the message out that players and officials who have problems with their former clubs should go to the AFL - and not to the media. Whatever they conclude about our behaviours etc., they should definitely sanction McLean.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
