Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN

"who everyone agrees has talent and is still young......Gysberts would have to be somewhere between 15 and 30 given he is contracted and has tons of upside. "

Opinion - everyone's got one.

"... who every one agrees hasn't lived up to his potential, is slow, unfit and weak and whose value has eroded similar to Sellars."

The only fact in there is that Sellar went for 14 then 54. That's the information to draw a parallel with.

He's worth what the market is prepared to pay, whether you accept it or not is your choice.

You would argue with your shadow. You clearly dont understand the mechanics of modern day trading.

Sydney invented it, Hawthorn understand it, Collingwood understand it, Geelong understand it, Richmond understand it , we now understand it , OMG even Essendon now understand it - many other teams understand it

You clearly dont.

Yeah, I get this. Teams lowballing us and offering below what they perceive his actual worth to be, in fact determine his worth.

We're talking the difference between value and worth.

Yes, the market determines worth. And a player's worth can change from year to year; it isn't static.

A classic case is the Saints and Luke Ball. Ball didn't feel part of Ross Lyon's future plans and decided he wanted out. It's hard to know what the Saints would have got on an open market, but they were dealing in a restricted market, because Ball wanted to go to Collingwood.

After haggling the Pies offered pick 25 and Wellingham for Ball. Lyon scoffed and ultimately the Saints got nothing. Ironically Ball was pivotal in Collingwood beating them in the GF a year later. At the time, in that market, that's what Ball was worth. It was the Saints right not to accept.

Wellingham has gone on to play some good footy and I won't look at all players that were available at or after pick 25, but if we just focus on the Cats they picked up Mitch Duncan, Christensen and Nathan Vardy.

Do you think Wellingham and any one of those 3 would get a game at the Saints ? Do you think they'd be better than nothing ?

Some Saints fans hate 'Rossy'.

They could do with a dose of perspective though.

He might have made a grave error in dealing with one particular player and walked out on them at an inopportune moment, but that turned out best for both parties (I think) and he took the saints to 2 GFs, and within a kick of winning one.

I completely agree Toast.

I am sick of opening up these threads, hoping for some new knowledge or rumours... But no.

Its always the same douchebags paying out on each other.

Damn! I opened this thread hoping there would be some news about Pedersen but only found posts airing gripes (joke joyce, i too get a little weary of the back and forth between posters sometimes, particularly when it involves trades and long complex equations, you know the sort - we give up a partridge in a pear tree, pick 37, a pettard to club a on on sell the partridge and the pick to club c and in return we get Viney second round, Toy and a case of little creatures)

According to the HUN online today, Pederson is likely to go to the filth.

If Collingwood can pay Cloke a huge amount, sign up all their out of contract players and recruit all those who are said to be going there then I would have to compliment them on their astute handling of the salary cap. Ha ha! Talk about the fishes and the loaves!

SEN this morning seemed to think he was a good chance to be a demon next year.

I think for the next couple of weeks journalists are just throwing darts at a board and reporting where it lands.

Maybe AFL need to investigate. Funny how the wheel turns Eddie. Show us ya books!!

It is with Pedersen that my interest lies at the moment. Other possible targets can come and go but for me this guy reeks of a player starved of opportunities (not to compare him as a player, but the opportunities given to Gunston this year might possibly serve as a guide). He would play a defined role, is in our age bracket and could also come at a bargain price allowing us room in the salary cap to chase bigger fish next year while filling a hole in our forward line.

I was happy to read Nudge's positive comments earlier an will be happier if we can bag this bloke next week.

With what appears to be Collingwood snaring Lynch as a FA, i rekon that this gives Melbourne the opportunity to grab pederson. From the limited number of games he played, he showed glimpses of being able to play at AFL. Hopefully he can fill the role of providing a second ready made lead up forward helping clark out. Might also provide help for development of a fitzy or martin who can even play as a third tall in our forward line. I hope melbourne signs him, can see him being a role-player and even contribute to our forward line structure

Why would Collingwood want Lynch? Would they play Cloke. Dawes & Lynch at the same time? I would think not. Will they get rid of Dawes if they get Lynch?Something NQR regarding this.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
