Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Looks quite impressive against Port; has anyone got any footage of him playing against decent opposition?

Considering we couldn't beat Port this year i'd say most team could be considered decent opposition?

I am with you here.

Just what IS wrong with him - sure Norf have lots of talls, but others don't yet we are the only interested party?

I just hope our stand in recruiting team have done their due diligence and we don't find out too late that he is some toxic psychopath!

PS: at 193 cm is he seriously considered a back up ruck man as well? 193! Does he possess some incredible leap, that Norf and nobody but us recognize?

I can assure you that we were not the only interested party, we were however the team that was prepared to pay Pederson significantly more than any other club.

Casey would be decent opposition for us but that's not the point I'm talking about AFL standard competition, not the crap that Port and Melbourne threw up this year.

Super impressed with this guy's attitude. Go read the interview over at the club website.

If you want to know what a Neeld kind of player is, well it begins with an attitude like the big Pedo's.

Honestly- he looks like a natural. He has that heir of effortlessness about him. I rate his skills but even more so I rate his attitude and willingness to always improve himself and play to the best of his abilities. That is what makes a good player and that is why we wanted him in this team.

I'm laying it on the line now- Zig is going to be a star for us! I am extremely excited about how this new setup is going to work and can't wait to see this in action.

I now fully understand why we traded Martin for an empty tic-tac bottle- with the pedo he is pure clog now.

“They’ve got a clear, defined role for me, which is called playing a link forward and ruck,” Pedersen said.

So Dawes may stay closer to goal than he often did? Or we'll rotate the two to link to Clark?

Probably across half forward/wing.

But the key word is 'ruck.'

This gives us a useful player as a 2nd ruck which is fantastic in-and-of-itself but it also means Clark doesn't have to ruck.

Thank Christ.

That's not to say that we shouldn't rotate him through the middle but it is not a requirement.

Clark won't be rucking. Dawes won't be rucking. That's been clear for a while IMO - they're too valuable up forward.

I agree with Clark FF, Dawes HF with Pedersen somewhere between the two interchanging with Jamar up forward.

Can't fathom how people are upset over losing Martin while gaining Pedersen.

Yes, the back-up ruck is in the ruck to give Jamar/Spencer a breather.

It is far more important they can play forward - Pedersen can.

And Stef cannot.

I'm worried about Jamar's longevity in the game now too, with the quicker ball-ups.

If Moloney struggled, how will Jamar go?

It is a worry.

One difference between rucks and mids getting to contests is that Jamar doesn't ruck in the forward line. And when there are repeat stoppages along a wing (ie. Sydney, St Kilda games) the ruckman is usually the one just standing around rather than having to worry about losing his man or getting into a 'reading' or 'stopping' position.

How will Spencer go? They'll jump all over him, that's if he is quick enough to get to the contest. He's looking prehistoric to me. Gawn an Fitzpatrick at least have the height and athleticism to compete. Neeld/Harrington should never have given Jamar 3 years. Big mistake.

Howe should go third man up around the ground. Sellar rucks in defence, Dawes/Clark/Pedersen-resting Jamaer ruck in the forward 50. Jamar/Howe/Pedersen ruck through the middle.

Just wanted to say that I'm really quite excited by this guy. Most here have him pigeon-holed as a depth player and many listing best 22's have him in the backline. And others are making Sellar comparisons. He's going to surprise many. Quite a few north supporters preferred him to Hansen and Tarrant and couldn't understand why he wasn't given more of a chance. I can understand why North were keen to pump games into Tarrant and fast-track his development and why they wanted to give Hansen every opportunity to finally justify his high draft position and obvious talent. With Petrie as their other key forward, there's no shame in finding yourself in the VFL. And if you are going to find yourself in the VFL you might as well go ahead and dominate and win the B & F. Pederson will at least be a very solid inclusion that provides that enhances our structure but I think he will be even better than that. I think Neeld will play him forward with Clark and Dawes and he will have a huge year. He's got a great pair of hands, a long accurate kick, seems to work hard defensively and will be hungry to prove himself. All aboard the Pedersen bandwagon!

I'm not sure our new guy woud like his new nickname very much.

Pedo or The pedo is far from flattering.

Which means it may stick.

Poor dude.

Can I be on "Pedo's" bandwagon or is it best I stay away from any wagons belonging to the Peed's?

Seriously we can't make this his nickname. Way too Auskick user unfriendly.

I'm going to call him "Link" for the role he was given "link forward and ruck" and I feel he will play as a link from mid-field to the forwards- a genuine CHF in every sense of the word.

I have watched every bit of vision of Pedo's that I can find and I can't see anything I don't like. I cannot believe that North let him go without giving him a go, this will turn around to bite them.

People at the North boards would be spewing over this I bet you. Can anyone check that and post a link?

I think I may kind of be sub-consciously psychic, because I have a good or bad feeling about certain players that join our club, even without ever seeing them play a game. There name and a small highlights package is all I need, and I have very rarely been wrong.

I felt very uneasy about drafting Morton, Strauss, Gysberts & cook, yet I was very excited to get sylvia, jones, grimes, blease, gawn & Howe, just to name a few.

As for our new selections, I obviously think hogan, wines and viney will be rippers. I think rodan will be a better acquisition than Byrnes and pedderson a more damaging player than Dawes.

Pedders' highlights look a-grade. I am excited.

I also think we will get Jacobs via the psd and davey will play good footy this year.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
