Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

of course you'd take him but only at the right price

he has shown he has great talent. he's obviously down on form but has a great upside. a change of environment and team setup plus some good coaching would have a good chance of resurrecting him to stringer-2015

Maybe re-uniting Stringer with his old coach might have him return to his best..?

lot of sense in that post

Even Tom Boyd put in one cruical performance

Stringer (if he goes) will go for much more than we should be willing to give. Brisbane or the Suns beckons perhaps or even Freo.

If the Dogs really do feel that Stringer needs to move on, and that he isn't in a good head space, then you would assume he would aim to get out of Victoria and start fresh. It's a big if though, can't see them giving up on him like that.

He has 2 very young kids here. It would make it tough to leave.

Of course - I would trust that any talented player could be put on track by our current coaching / development team, but it would have to be at a price that doesn't get the rest of the team off side, and doesn't involve using a pick for whom we have a better target.

Given the hype about him especially a year ago, I would expect that the Dogs would want too much.

I would also have to ponder, why dont they want to keep him and straighten him out themselves if he is really that good?

A very lazy footballer that wants everything the easy way on the field. Would cost more than his worth to get him.

a big NO for me

Agree. Kicks a bag every two months to remind people he has some talent, but overall he is a lazy sook whose output doesn't not match his reputation. It's a pass for me.

As others have said, he's clearly not right in the head at the moment.  Whether that's lifestyle, passion, commitment or even an undisclosed injury or condition making things difficult for him.  He looks slow, his skin-folds look too high and the ball just doesn't seem to be bouncing his way when it lands.  His marriage broke down last year, which can't make things any better for him, but the spark that was there in his game is gone.  He looks to be laboring, both physically and emotionally.

So, with that said, it's high risk, high reward.  Western Bulldogs know that they have a champion on their list if they can get him right, but that also makes him an enticing prospect for opposition teams.  Bulldogs would be wanting a top ten pick to even start the conversation, so he'd be an expensive pick-up.

Of course we'd want him, we'd be crazy not to, but I can't see the Bullies parting with him unless there was something seriously wrong with him.

who knows mono? it's all hypothetical at this stage

we do know his best is definitely elite. His personal life has been in turmoil this last 18 months so there is probably a connection

he may have burnt a few bridges at the kennel, but who knows?

Yes! Defenders are so underrated. We have enough scoring power. What we lack is a good defender to stop guys like Jack Riewoldt, Tom Hawkins, Joe Daniher, etc. outmarking and kicking a bag against us everytime.

While we beat Adelaide this year Lever was one of the few players who had a crack against us. Same when Whorethorn beat them

Priority One for me

The Package is now damaged, handle with care...

Some of the comments above reminds me of the commentary around Jeff Garlett prior to his arrival...

Stringer is a very talented player who'd probably thrive in a new environment, and with McCartney knowing him from his time at the Kennel, if we took him we'd sort him out.

Garlett Hogan Stringer

Watts Weideman Petracca/Hannan

Looks ok. :)

but jake lever is too short/light for the likes of daniher, hawkins, buddy, kennedy etc. lever is 194cm 85kg

i'd still like him but not for the gorillas

Lever was injured and didnt play against us. Might be thinking of Laird.

kicked just shy of 100 goals between 2015 and 2016. just turned 23 and played 80-odd games so hasnt hit his peak yet.  cant completely understand his head would not be in it going through a break up with 2 young kids. Footy would be the last thing on your mind.

would be a great get, can score goals out of nothing

At his best is outstanding.

Punchline is what is preventing him playing at that level and can it be remedied.

And if Bevo was willing to part company it could be seen as an admission of sorts from a coach that from all reports  gets the most out of his players.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
