Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sam has come a long way as his confidence has grown in the second half of the season, and is starting to show why he was an early draft pick. I look forward to him developing a tank, and working around contests created by Clark and another KPF.

I'm saying that players can't just go to the club that they want without being unrestricted free agents.

Sure he can ask to go go to the club of choice, but GWS have to come to the party and negotiate with MFC to make it happen...

But my point is more that just cos Scully is there, does not mean that Blease would automatically go there too... are we saying that Scully is his ONLY friend in the world, and he just has to leave to join him, and leave his family etc.... it's just too simplistic a view to take.

Pretty sure if worse came to worse, he could not sign, then not nominate for the National Draft, and just nominate for the PSD and walk to GWS. Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is what could happen. But anyway, that is all speculation, I am confident he will sign with us in the next few weeks hopefully along with Strauss, as he has been excellent considering the injury he suffered only mid last year.

Yeah I noticed on the interview on DeeTV that he didnt smile much but was very positive about helping the team move up from the bottom and he made a point of calling his team mates his mates. Jobs right...

Did you notice we lost today? Think Sylvia got enough crap for that already. Sounded to me like he's happy where he is and plans to be part of this team moving forward.

The thing I really liked about his game today is that he showed he is listening to the coaches. Last week he played on twice close to goal and stuffed up both times. Neeld said in his interview post-match that they'd work on that. Today when Nev hit him in the open you could see how much he wanted to keep running into the open goal, but he saw a player closing in and did the sensible thing. Obviously the coaches had a word to him and he took it on board and did things a little differently this week.

Yes I noted that as well. It is good to see he listens. He is never going to be a naturally defensive player but with 2 more preseason he will be that good that it wont matter.

Yeah I agree that if GWS finished last then yes thats an option to go to them via the PSD.

At the time of posting though, we still had a game going between GWS and GC. :)

I like some of his qualities too, but the gushing over a player that's done SFA is extraordinary. I suppose this is what has become of most Melbourne supporters. At Geelong they'd say "he shows some promise". At Melbourne it's panic stations as to whether we'll keep him.

He can play, but I'm far from excited.

A handful of posters wetting themselves about whether we'll keep him is hardly "panic stations at Melbourne".

So you get my drift ? Or did you think I meant that the football club would be panicking ?

No, yeah, you get my drift.

I just meant that the panic stations is just coming (as always) from a few nuffies on the periphery and I reckon all clubs have members who flip their wig over nothing. You seemed to be suggesting otherwise.

Anyway, small fry issue. I agree that he's still in the "could be" rather than "is" basket.

yeah he looks like a real talent. Ive noticed he doesnt smile much which my wife thinks is a bad sign LOL. Keep him away from his old flatmate so he doesnt get any ideas.

$$ulky doesn't smile much either. Never did, never will.

but thats what blease has shown so far and thats promise, no one is saying he is going to be a superstar but he is showing enough to suggest he will be a very good player for the melbourne football club. . he is improving each week and a player thats played 18 games been dogged by injuries no pre season base behind him yet the thought of a full pre season building up his engine and a full year of 22 games into him doesn't excite you at all? this is one bloke that will take the game on and take risks something most of our players dont do at all.

blease will be a player.

Is he eligible for the Rising Star? 5 goals should attract some attention. Would certainly boost his stocks if negotiating a new contract.

Shows promise but needs to do it consistently for mine.

Yes he is. But Hoskin-Elliot kicked 5 as well today...

Also after watching the Robbo show, Blease's interview and Neeld's presser - I have a strong feeling that Blease loves the club, Neeld and they love him back.

No doubt he should be our no. 1 priority. He's got so many attributes that we lack; pace, skill, flare, excitement, and I would say a touch of arrogance. The last one isn't meant to be an insult, he now believes in his ability he backs his pace and sort of says "catch me if you can". Reminds me of Davey when he first came to the club.

True. Loved Neeldy's comment in the Press Conference after the game. Can't recall the exact words. But, it was something to the effect of "Sammy's been to the confidence shop, and he's got it in bucket loads..."

The various comments on the likes of the Robbo Show, as another poster alluded to, also suggested the players all get a bit of a laugh out of Sam's "arrogance". It's not a bad thing in an elite athlete -- a complete belief in one's own abilities. The test, obviously, is in that player combining talent with arrogance to become a real success in the game. Sam has shown glimpses he just may be capable of that. A full pre-season or two, more work on his defensive game (which HAS been steadily improving), and we potentially have a top player on our hands.

(Also loved Neeld's comment in yesterday's press conference, about a conversation he had with Sam on the subject of the defensive side of the game earlier in the year. Said Sam looked at him like he was from another planet. Was both hilarious and instructive. Neeld went on to say Sam has made progress in that area since then, although still has a long way to go.)

Was really please for him with his 5 goal effort yesterday. I have high hopes for the kid. (Then again, I am an old MFC tragic, and have high hopes for every player on our list...! LOL)

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
