Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Watts still has A LOT of improvement in him.

I think as he matures, his body will strengthen and he'll find a yard.

Was a very good game today, one of Watts best games for the club I thought.

He has played better games than that.

We just believe the BS said by people who don't watch him as closely as we do and after a quiet month he is back to being a 'hack' or a 'spud' again.

It's largely up to him to string some games together but I will bring it back home here with one of much loved comparisons - Lynden Dunn.

Dunn was nowhere at Watts' age, absolutely nowhere. 2013 and this year he has finally become a solid pro capable of playing a role for the team.

He is 27. With Watts well ahead of where Dunn was at the same age, you are absolutely correct that he will continue to get better as he matures.

Hopefully, we will mature with him.

I hope the football public matures a bit too, and many on here. It's time for Jack to be left to get on with his game, this is what the FD has brought with them this year, they let the players play, teach them and back them in.

he sounded [censored] off when david king started asking him questions about how good it must feel to play well and work hard because everyone says he doesnt, if i were watts i would of told him to go **** himself and walked off

I really think that's his spot, the high half forward, 11 marks, 3 goals and his disposal is just so precise, he, Salem and Toumpas are the three I want kicking to ball into the 50, they hit targets so often

three tackles in the first quarter, and not wuss tackles, hard tackles, he was on all day.

That's what I loved most about his game today, the goals were great by they were icing - the fact he was tackling properly and was fighting for the ball at the bottom of packs is exactly what I've wanted to see from him. Hopefully he can carry on with it, he's done it against the Tigers and Dogs before and gone missing against other opposition, let's hope he can put a consistent season together.

At half time I thought his game was almost the opposite of usual. All work rate, tackles, leads etc and no fancy stuff, no threading the needle etc. I was really happy with his efforts but thought it would probably go unnoticed. I thought his third quarter was a bit quieter but they were at the other end from me so maybe that was it. His fourth quarter was immense. The amount of running he did was great.

The last goal he kicked after a mark close to goal was a result of a 150 m run from the wing where he won the ball and got it out before sprinting forward. Fantastic play.

Well done Jack.

He has *played better* but this was one of his highest work rates I think.

The tide is turning and Jack is doing something that I thought he was incapable of doing.

I thought he would be exclusively an outside mid. I was disappointed in him as while I thought he was an outside mid, I was annoyed as he never seemed to get out of a jog.

The last few weeks (since Crossy's spray vs. Sydney), I have noticed that Jack is getting under the bottom of packs. Initially, and to my shame, scoffed when I saw this. However, I am seeing it more and more. They are becoming more than token efforts.

Jack hasn't turned it all around completely yet but his desire now is well on course to make myself and other doubters look bloody silly.
That last quarter and a bit was genuine superstar stuff. It was Jarman-esque.

Agree with this...he covered an incredible amount of territory in the last quarter...really wanted it.

I was pretty happy with Jack today. There were a couple of moments where I was screaming at him to pick up his bloody man again, but in general he was a lot more accountable when they had the ball. He was also doing better with contested ball which is really nice to see. His 11 marks is a pretty decent indication of his workrate, and he could have had more if his teammates would just open their eyes and see him leading into open space. The number of times he breaks into space to be ignored is shocking, especially when they then kick to a bad option instead. I was also happy to see him take the shot from the HF flank that went Out on the full. It showed that he's hungry and also taking some of the responsibility for games on himself. These are traits we've all questioned in him from time to time.

He really just stood up, he has the capacity to be a superstar. Jack at his best is top 10 in the AFL, un-stopable

Oh yeah that must be it. Because he had the gun defender that is Nick Vlaustin on him right?

Watts put in a good last quarter. We all know he must've been fresh because his effort in the first 3 was typically ordinary.

Richmond's half backs are running all over us in the 3rd quarter. Salem's stuffed. Gawn is chasing at Gawn speed. Dawes is working his butt off. Same with Pedersen. And Jack Watts is being Jack Watts and letting slower blokes run straight passed him.

A great last quarter. Some really good confidence to call for the ball one on one and take a 'somewhat' contested mark. Beautiful running forward of the ball to get out in space in the first place (this has improved in his game exponentially).

A somewhat step forward for Watts. But more and more I'm thinking he's found his level as inconsistent, softish, skilled half forward who will have some decent weeks, some poor weeks.

This is a rubbish post. His effort in the forts 3 quarters was ordinary? What tosh, he was excellent all game. Attacked the ball, ran hard all day, ran to space to give options all day (and as noted by a poster above was often ignored), was smart with his ball use and his coach lauded him. Was in our best 3.

Just a rubbish post and typical of some so called fans who have a set view of Watts and refuse to change even when the evidence demands a reassessment.

Oh and knocking him by knocking Vlaustin? This is the same Vlaustin who was almost their best player last year?

Big fan of Jack's talent. Thought his goals covered up some significant lack of intensity today though. With his talent, if he developed his intensity and 'want' to be the best he could be, he could be anything.

He was clutch today though. Best kick in our team and has all the ability. Become our best player Jack, you clearly can be!

Oh please c'mon. His intensity today was as good as it has ever been. I just don't get the negativity about Watts in the last 3 weeks. And to be clear i called for him to be dropped due to his lack of intensity against the Swans. Thankfully i'm not coach of the dees and since then he has been terrific and his intensity and effort has been first class. For petes sake he was a key to us winning today.

Am a big defender of him, have always been against him being dropped and against those that get stuck into him. My comments are simply constructive criticism. He was good today, his ability allowed him to kick clutch goals. Just want him to build on it and improve his intensity and commitment.

Got all the talent in the world Jack, which showed today. If he really wanted to he could've been even better and hopefully that's where he ends up in time.

We must have been at different games because his intensity and effort was right there from the get-go, and he never took the foot off the pedal after that.

Wattsy had 10 disposals, four marks and kicked two goals in the last 30 minutes. Match winner.

Totally agree.

He must have got a bullet up his arse at three quarter time.

His first half was very ordinary.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
