Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Another thing this shows is the value of a big hulking marking forward in a tight wet Final. Neitz didn't kick a bag but set up crucial goals and near misses in the second half, when the real pressure was on. The sealer to Yze, near miss to Bruce in the last five minutes for example. Step on up Mitch Clark.

God it's been a long 5 years of being terrible, we really need to start seeing some results now. Members need a huge round of applause for not only sticking fat but joining in records numbers. Time to repay the faith I think, although I'm not overly hopeful for 2012.

Spot on A.M.....Big men do not get shorter late in the game....Smaller players lose there ability to jump & match them though.

Mitch Clark indeed...We have missed a David Nietz player so badly....

I watched the last part of this again and it was instructive.

I dont think we were that good, the aints were not good and injured.

What i noticed was:

how poor our ball movement was

Col Sylvia being Col (potential)

Davey losing it (confidence player...but very useful around the goal)

Bate (not bad in the middle)

Neeta (creating havoc in the goal square, what the world needs now....)

Trapper (magic when he was on)

And Mr Fumbles himself (how did he hang onto Pia).

Really quite instructive.

Things I noticed....

Nathan Jones was always poor with his skills, especially by foot

Nathan Jones looked different with hair/ i forgot Nathan ever had hair

Brad Green layed well on the wing and pushing up the ground

Jnr Mac had a quiet night, as did Yze

Brock used to find the footy a lot and was a lot quicker in 2006

Robbo pinches goals off people (see the one he marks on the goal line from Sylvia kick)

WE WERE THE NUMBER 1 TACKLING SIDE IN 2006! (What a difference some big mature bodies makes. Junior tackled well all night).

Nathan Carrol could have been a good defender for us if not for his stupidity

Ben Holland was mauled

Daniel Bell was suffering head injuries even in 2006

Aaron Davey loses his cool far too often and costs the side. He also should be 'harassing' playings inside fwd50.

Matthew Bate looked ok moving through the middle.

Brock won a lot of clearances and loved to hack the ball inside the forward 50

We had heart in 2006!

Notes after watching:

I can remember being very exited about Brock Mclean at this stage. Even though most will not admit, they were too. His tale is a sad one.

I loved to watch Byron.

We need another David Neitz. Hopefully Clarke can fill that role.

and thanks for the memories Green Machine.

For all his accolades; games, goals, captain record holder, at times I wonder if Neeta is still a tiny bit under appreciated in the history of the MFC. I'm pretty sure in another ten years he will be thought of a rung below Flower and Lyon, and I'm not sure he should be. He did more unsung things than either of those two greats.

Watching that reminds me how much I loved the Danher era. Those are the players I grew up watching, and we were a far better team back then.

Even just 5 years ago footy was much more free-flowing and IMO more enjoyable to watch. Here'es hoping the current trend of press' gets torn apart by coaches and we return to free flowing run and long kicking to big forwards.

I didn't lover the Daniher era as such, but I agree that football was more enjoyable to watch back then.

The only things I remember from that match are how much I fell in love with Brock as a player, and how drunk I got celebrating the win afterwards.

Good times.

Then came the Nick Smith to the ruck debacle. Not so good times.

I don't know if I'd call us a good team exactly. A hard working team and a tough team we certainly were. Both are things we've been lacking in the last few years.

It does bring up some interesting points for me though.

Neitz really was a force in our forward line. It really brings into perspective the lack we've felt since his departure. Hopefully Clark can help fill the void.

Carol was a damn good hard nut defender. If only he hadn't been such an idiot off the field.

Bate is a midfielder who can take a mark and kick goals. Playing him as a forward has been a waste of his talent and very nearly cost us a player.

What on earth happened to Brock? You look at how good he was as a young player, and how far his game has fallen since then. Aren't they supposed to improve?

Nate Jones had a hell of a first season. The kick out of defence at the start of the game, in traffic and off balance, was a gem.

I wish we could see Davey chasing and harassing players that hard again.

I love that game! Still gets me pumped up.

Mitch Clark should be shown countless footage of David Neitz - the man was unstoppable! And I agree, very underappreciated.

There isn't too much difference - in terms of skill level - between the 06' and the current team except that we would struggle to mount a comeback like that one. Amazing what a solid core of leaders will do to a team. Good news is that we're starting to build a strong group of young leaders but being realistic players like trengove and grimes need more games and experience before they're ready. Although if Green can shake his anxiety of being the leader, Davey gets out of his form slump and Moloney stays sober then things will improve a lot faster.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
