Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My point exactly Duder .

It's like watching Ali in his prime belting up me when I'm [censored] on a Friday night .Or the Cats against the Rising Sun Pub 18 .

Highly amusing for the spectator but not challenging for Ali or the cats.

Sepoy and Black Caviar WILL happen-and there will be less than a couple of lengths in it at least .

Moody is trying to keep her unbeaten for breeding value-which will be huge .

Sepoy is a pretty classy horse.

Like to see HT put his house on BC against him .

Good article-but the journo said it's Australias greatest horse .

Wonder if he he meant now or ever?

Certainly a big statement .

Vain is in her blood on both sides .

Nineteenth win over a very good Hay List and excellent field to boot, who had its finest run to date, unfortunately it met an equine freak ! There isn't enough adjectives to describe Black Caviar. To have come back down in distance from 1400m and produce that run on Saturday was enormous. Now has equalled the record for most consecutive wins in Australiasia of all time. That is, dare I say it again, .... Great !

Black Caviars 19 wins: -

Group 1 wins: 9

Group 2 wins: 7

1000m (5), 1200m (13), 1400m (1)

Saturdays win was Black Caviar's fifth Group 1 win at Flemington, which is a record. She surpassed Phar Lap and Makybe Diva, Mahogany and Comic Court who all boasted four Group 1 wins each.

She currently sits with Desert Gold and Gloaming who were outright champions, all on 19 consecutive wins in Australiasia. And Black Caviar is the only one to have accomplished this without tasting defeat. The last one to do so on the international scene was the great Zayetta, whose run of wins ended on 19.

She really is a great sprinter HT -probably the best ever in Australia (sprinter).

Instead of her beating Hay List for the umpteenth time ,I look forward to her run in Dubai where she make take on the worlds best (including Sepoy) .

There really isn't anything here that can challenge her under six furlongs .

Like Makybe Diva ,as a mare she doesn't get weighted fairly ,for archaic handicapping reasons .

Would like to see her weighted at 60 or above ( she should be carrying 65) .

Would like to see her go the mile too .

Low hanging fruit at the moment is great for the record but ultimately unchallenging for the horse .

Sepoy is a wonderful horse and will only get better. BC is now one of the greats of the turf.

I don't understand this chip on your shoulder you seem to have about her.

Why does BC have to do anything? Asking her to 'go a mile' or 'carry 65kg' just because "you'd like to see it" and it suits your bias is just ridiculous.

Moody after initially going cold on starting BC in the Futurity straight after her win on Saturday has now said that BC pulled up ok and may still run at Caulfield. Then off to Dubai for what will be a very big race.

He also referred to her as one that always needed maintenance in between races with soft tissue concerns. But now that she's matured somewhat, her recovery powers seem to have improved.

Pinker Pinker (last years cox plate winner) I think resumes this week in the same race. IIRC also has a good fresh record over 1400m. Will be a good test again, I would imagine for BC.

She isn't the greatest till she races the greatest .-It's not a chip.

I'm not biased either-Just don't tell me shes the greatest .

Not saying she couldn't be but she's wasting time racing chumps .

Phar Lap raced in the states for the greatest prizemoney ever put up at the time and won in record time so er...... yes .

Link to comment

Phar Lap also beat his half brother ,Night March ,who was pretty handy ,winning a Cox Plate ,an Epsom and one of those Melbourne Cup thingies , to name a few .

BTW- I think BC is a top horse and could be the greatest sprinter from Australia ever produced .

I'm not carrying on -and shes not carrying much ,so don't believe all the hype about her .

Your dismissiveness is astounding. She lugged 58 kg last year to beat a crack Newmarket field down the straight. She pretty much equalled the record of Special on Saturday. So if it's time anyone wants to compare against, she more than measures up.

Tale of Greatness :

* Australasian record holder with Desert Gold and Gloaming for consecutive wins (19).

* Matched American champion Zenyatta's record of winning first 19 starts.

* FIRST Australian horse with 10 starts to win every race.

* Equalled Ajax's record for successive Stakes race wins (18).

* Sits alone as worlds top mare.

* Highest ever ranked Australian horse in World Thorougbred Rankings (Now 132)

* Rated worlds top sprinter.

* Owns Flemington 1000m record.

* Only mare in more than 100 years to carry 58kg to win Newmarket Handicap.

58 isn't that much to carry HT .

As far as the record at Flem goes she missed it by .03 for the 1000 .

Yes she is good .

I maintain she hasn't beaten much yet .

Carbine beat a field of 39 whilst carrying 65.5 in a Melbourne Cup .(to give you an indication of the greatness)

Good luck to her in Dubai .

We've seen Makybe Diva and now BC never carry more than 58 due to silly handicap rules for mares- they should change the rule .

PS-the Herald Sun is a remedial paper .

Agree on H-Sun.

There was something mentioned on weekend in coverage regarding the recorded times back then, about rounding them. Can't recall exactly, it doesn't matter anyway. 0.03 .... That's one poof-teenth of a hair on the nose.

Remarkable.

Chief handicapper Greg Carpenter recommends that Hay List (rated 122) going into the Lightning is undervalued internationally and he should rate around 125. BC has beaten quality. Numerous times.

Regarding old Melbourne Cups etc and staying races. It's different measure to that of sprinters. If she can get to a mile (which I reckon she can having brained them at 1400m), that will give her the exclamation marks.

True-hard to match a sprinter to these old champs .

Shes certainly up there with Vain ,probably better .

Takeover Target struggled at the mile also .

Greg Carpenter has made it his business to involve himself in the debate ,and purposefully underweights good things to draw in crowds .That's the issue .

As far as Hay List/BC ratings go- we need some international racing ,or Sepoy to really be able to tell how good they are .

Frankel is the only racehorse in the world with a higher rating than Black Caviar. If they meet at Ascot in the middle of our winter, I just wonder how big it will be for racing. And if they are both unbeaten on meeting, there will be massive interest.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
