Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jamar In, Jurrah Out?

Recommended Posts

I'm no coach but on the way back from the footy tonight I couldnt help think that Jurrah needs a rest or time at Casey. He doesn't lead, chase or tackle. With the mighty Russian ready to return would it be a dumb idea to have him play out of the forward line with Maximus and Stef doing the ruck duties?

If there is a calf problem with Jurrah he should be rested for a couple of weeks. If he isn't injured then he should be dropped to Casey for the lazy effort he put in today.

I want Jurrah OUT.

I had the same thought during the 3rd Qtr. I told a fellow demon supporter the same thing, because Jamar's got to be very close, and Jurrah doesn't deserve a game whilst not doing any 1%'s. He doesn't look to give off, nor Block, shepherd, chase, tackle, or any of the real Team attributes. Sure, he's down on confidence,,, and that IS Exactly when you Have to do the 1%'s, more than any other time.

Talked this over with the old man on the train home today. Jurrah definatly needs a rest, Jamar could benefit from a week in the forward line and Gawn doesn't deserve to be dropped. Interesting week ahead.

I don't think a guy like Jurrah would benefit from being dropped to Casey. I think we have to persist with him. Stick Jamar in the goalsquare next week with Jurrah in a pocket and I think he will benefit from having the focus taken off him. Sure he needs to work on his tackling and pressure and stick his marks but he did this on occasions today just needs to find some consistency. At the end of the day he is one of only 3 or 4 players in our team capable of kicking 6 goals and winning a game of his boot and for that reason I'd like to see him stay in the side.

Not to mention the fact that some of the delivery today (and in recent weeks) has been atrocious with many forward deliveries going over his head or at his feet. When he has had decent delivery he has been the only player forward of the ball meaning the opposition know we are going to him and can double team him or read the play without to many problems.

You can't have Jamar and Gawn in the same forward line. Jamar in = Gawn out.

Jurrah is a separate issue. If he's out it should be for Dunn, Gysberts, Tapscott etc.

Another possibility which I'm keen on is Jurrah as the sub. I think he'd be really exciting to bring on fresh.

Jurrah is clearly carrying an injury. He was hobbling to the fence to hand out a footy after the match. He didn't try for any flamboyant leaps like he normally does. Something is wrong with his leg. Why we are continuing to play him when he is clearly not 100% is beyond me.

this........he also just needs some confidence. i thought his 2nd efforts werent too bad today... but his silky soft hands seem to have disappeared, and thats just a confidence thing. itll come.

We wont play three ruckman against Richmond.

If Jamar returns, he returns fit and shares the first ruck responsibilities with Martin.

Gawn needs to continue to develop his game at Casey. Its been a great taste of AFL. Now he needs to go and consolidate.

I'd rather bring in Gysberts, Tapscott if we were to drop Jurrah. I dont think we will unless he is declared unfit.

I thought he started to really get in the game in the second half came up the ground got lots of touches. The disposal to him was really terrible really.....I watched him go for marks and im wondering if its his shoulder. He almost seemed to be keeping part of his body out of the contest or protecting it? I wouldnt drop him many players play below 100% fit these days, but Im warming to the super sub idea for a while maybe...

Agree 100%. The Russian in the forward line taking pressure off LJ will do him a world of good.

Jurrah is horribly out of form and/or carrying a few niggles, and he's still coming 5th i think in the Coleman. The thing i feel about Jurrah is that when it does click, it will click with a bang. I see a bag of 5 or 6 around the corner, perhaps against the Tigs?

Another possibility which I'm keen on is Jurrah as the sub. I think he'd be really exciting to bring on fresh.

Yep, pretty good call that too. Might give him the same boot up the arse that it gave Jack. Given his lack of aerobic capacity, the fact he looks a bit injured, and the poor form, might just be a good way to lighten his load a little bit, as well as sending a message that he needs to improve.

Jurrah coming on fresh, late in the 3rd when everyone else is blowing, would be nightmare for opposition defences.

Jamar in the forward line would be a great asset in helping expose the lack of height in the Tiges defense.

I don't think Jurrah would get any benefit from a spell in the twos. He's an A-Grade player. Either rest him or put him on the park. I notice his form has dropped off since Davey has been out and Wonna away on leave (or is my mind playing tricks?). Maybe missing a bit of support? More likely carrying an injury I guess. In which case give him a rest.

It's not a matter of Babying him into form, this is not a creche!

He has to Earn the Respect of the players and the supporters. He has to do the team things. Chase. Tackle.. Shepherd.. Block.. Lead hard up field.. Present .. Get up and help the Mids..

He's doing none of these and doesn't derserve to be in the Jumper! What have we done to the PRIDE in our Jumper if were pandering to individuals who don't do TEAM Oriented efforts!

No Wonder Tom doesn't want to play here.

Correct he got in the play in the last. 9 touches, 2 goals that should have been 3 and could have been 4. Yet now we want to drop him. I would be playing him through for the next 2 and one after the break.

We were well in control of the game for thewhole last Qtr.

The players who were't trusting him during the game, then went out of their way to try to nurture him into form in the last... I thought it was Odd, the way we went searching for Jurrah, to get the ball to HIM...

jarrah out, Cook in, Russian one game at Casey before he comes in at expense of Gawn and that is a pity.

That sounds good to me. Can you make it happen. I'm in.

I'd like Cooko to be in for the Tiges, and for the Darwin game,,, with his great hands in the slippery Darwin heat.

Most of the 9 touches came in one passage of play and it wasn't pretty.

He's out of form and if it was going to help he should go back to Casey, but I doubt that he will so they will continue to play him.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
