Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not a bad game today, niners have the bones for a good side in the coming years.

Yeah definitely happy with the nucleus, not so sure about the Giants.

Had the game spoiled literally as I was leaving for the day and whenever this happens we seem to start well. Breida continues to impress as the makeshift RB but our non existent pass rush was an indictment especially against that horrible Giants line.

Funny how we talked about crucial penalties win Donald yesterday, could have had them on 4th down in the last drive, Malcolm Smith with a stupid hold.

Good game today, thought the packers the better team but once again couldn’t put enough points up early.

They then went away from the run game what felt like nearly entirely which I thought was strange as it has worked the last week and a half.

PS I hate Seattle!

Heard an interesting stat today. Favre and Rodgers both had/have losing records on the road. Not suggesting anything but it is intriguing.

Yep, to hell with the 12th man.

You calling a 43-44 record for Rodgers a losing record on the road?  2 wins off a winning record.  Favre also has the most home victories by any QB in history.

And it's not golf or tennis ... there is strength of team and the coaching to factor in.

Using your logic,  Rob Flower was an abject failure as he largely played in losing teams home or away.

If you watched yesterday's game you would have seen that Rodgers was Green Bay's standout player - by a street.  As he is in most games - home or away.  As was Favre.

And just a week and a half ago Rodgers had a winning road record - that's 11 days ago.  2 weeks ago you weren't talking about his winning record on the road.

Goodness knows where Green Bay would be without the Rodgers - same goes for Favre.  Both are/were star players playing in teams that are/were never star-studded.  Much like Flower at the Demons.

Here's a stat for you layz ...

Brett Favre's record against your 49ers was 12 & 2.  He dined out on your mob - constantly.   But at the time Favre played,  the Niners weren't often a strong team.  So the stat is somewhat meaningless.

A lot of stats are meaningless but here's a beauty ...

In the last 16 times we have played Collingwood in a finals game we have won 15 of the matches.  A 15 & 1 record.  I delight in enlightening Pie supporters of that stat.

Just the look on their faces upon hearing that meaningful stat is priceless.  And there is no comeback.  None.

A lot of tips against my Rams...

Question for those, is it their offence is better than ours, you think their D will cover our O better especially without Kupp?

Very interested to hear.

Me, I think our D is better than theirs, I don’t think KC have a good enough D to get to th3 AFC championship game if they face either Pats or Steelers, but their offence is great. Hunt and Hill are tearing it up, but I would try and limit them as much as you can but clamp down hard on Kelce, I still think he is key.

If the Rams D steps up to what their individual talents suggest they could I see us winning by 3pts or under. If Rams D plays as it has KC win by 14.

It's got more to do with the other choices being risky,  high risk or worse ... I thought about the Panthers,  Titans,  Houston & Tampa but with 2 points on the line,  I'm better off picking 3 decent teams.  May or may not work as there are no guarantees.

Personally,  I reckon the Rams will probably win but if KC play great,  they might win.  I'm more confident with the Steelers and to a lesser extent,  the Vikes.

I wasn’t insinuating anything by mentioning this stat Macca, in fact I said that up front. Just thought it was interesting that hey both shared this stat. The Robbie Flower comparison is a bit ridiculous when you know better than most how important a QB is to a team’s chances. Whether you like it or not very often it comes down to how good is your quarterback and how good is the one you are facing.

I’m a Rodgers fan, but this caught my eye because they are both in my opinion too good to struggle this much on the road. I know a lot of people get super defensive when someone critiques Rodgers’ game and like to blame the line and the defense but surely people can question things about his game.

Dumb stats aside I did watch that game (and have watched a lot of Rodgers games this year) and I’m not sure if he was their best by a street. He did very well but something is not looking the same. Even Aikman who defends QBs to the hilt was critical in that key drive. He’s missing open receivers more often and just looks a tiny bit off with confidence (Probably still not 100% healthy to be fair). Don’t know how the relationship is with McCarthy at the moment either. I thought the Pack defense did a good job aside from at the end obviously, they got tired but they’ll always get tired if you keep punting.

Of course I remember Favre’s record in SF, it was brilliant, he was brilliant. I also remember his first 11 games in the Metrodome 2-9. That stat is silly yes but maybe not totally meaningless.

*For what it’s worth Aikman also had a losing road record ?

Nope, not me. I don’t actually rate KC’s D that highly whereas the Rams are stacked on D and can go up a notch. Rams by 7

Back in the day wingmen could win games for their teams so the Flower comparison is quite apt ... he actually influenced a number of our wins when he played.  And I witnessed his entire career.

Montana only got to 4 SB's ... does that make him a failure in all the other seasons that he played?  Of course not.  But if I use your logic he is to blame.

Favre & Rodgers were/are great players so your focus on them without even mentioning the rest of the team or the coaching is disingenuous.

Anyway, how's your own mob going these days layz?  Still choking?  Or is it tanking time again? ha ha ?

Brady has a great road record but he has always been surrounded by a great team and great coaching.  And there lies the difference.  And I regard Belichick as the greatest coach in any sport of the modern era.  Tom is blessed but he is also a great player.

Rivers & Brees are about 50/50 on the road like Rodgers is and in real terms, that is a great result,  all things considered.  But that is just my view.

Most starting QB's have a poor to below average road record but that is the nature of the beast - even New England lose 2 -4 road games most years.

Haha come on Macca that’s insane! Was Robbie was kicking our team’s total scores every week?

Well by my ‘logic’ Montana had a 65-25 road record so I guess it rings true ?

Ok so if Rodgers is important enough to say Green Bay would be terrible without him right now then why when we mention his road record is it suddenly about the team? It’s not like he played with no-one during this period these were decent Packers rosters. It doesn’t matter though because I think Rodgers is great. The only point I was making was that it was interesting that these two guys from the same team and two of the best of all time both shared this stat because. It’s an odd thing to find in a team with a good coach and QB.

Oooh nerves hit and we’re going for the low hanging fruit! Haha ?

McCarthey is not a good coach - he is average and sometimes below or above average.  And I'm being generous with that appraisal so as to keep the trolls at bay.  The only area we've been good at in the last 10 years is WR.  That's it.  Our defense has been average or below average,  terrible at RB,  Secondary useless,  Tight ends are non-existent and the offensive & defensives lines below par.  Rodgers is the shining light although I will admit he is getting on a little bit.  Not much,  but a little bit

Mate,  I am an insanely passionate Packers fan ... I may not show it here very often but that is the truth of the matter.  I hate losing and it's the wrong time to engage right now.

I am angry. frustrated and pizzed off.  Another season wasted because the team isn't good enough and the coach is basically clueless.  AAARRRGGH

Back onto all matters tipping wise,  good call on the Texans layz as they have slipped under my guard.  If the Bears win they give themselves a real shot at the division - if the Bears lose the division is the Vikings for the taking.  The Packers are probably out of it unless we can somehow beat the Vikings in Minnesota in week 12.  Big ask.

But it is come on Washington I say - at least for this week ?

Yeah look there have been plenty of deficiencies in the Packers roster over time no doubt about it. I think McCarthy is generally a decent coach but has lost his way over the last few years and there is not a perfect fit right now with him and Rodgers.

And of course you're a big fan. The truth is that when Jimmy G went down I gravitated to this GB team this year. I've have been taking a keen interest and almost barracking for them in the NFC believe it or not. So when they lost to the hated Seahawks I actually felt like a frustrated Packer fan. I rate this roster they got good defensive talent, need a better running game. Get Mike out and the best guy for AR.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him.
