Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

the players as a group have no idea what the game plan is

excuse me

These blokes have been under Bailey's command for nearly two years, I believe that is something like 400 training sessions and 44 matches, over 1000 hours of a group of professionals training them. It is simply not possible Bailey's plan could be so mysterious as they have no idea what it is. More importantly, everyone has witnessed the side improve, they have made a plan work and matched it or even bettered some of the best sides in the comp - the only problem is that they cant do it consistently, which is a completely realistic thing to expect of a bunch of kids. Nevertheless, it is obvious that they are building a plan and a list and a team, and despite winning just 4 we clearly improved this year. We are about to welcome two champion kids to the club also. Doesn't make sense.

I'm not calling you a liar and obviously your first call was spot on but this part just does not work for me

I hate this and am seriously worried with how the club is looking for the next 3 or 4 years! I know this is just my shock wearing in, but if Davey leaves that will be the worst thing that could happen to the supporter base..... We won't have members, no supporters, no money & no club.. I know this is fear mongering but I hope something is going on to sort out all the crap behind the scenes!!

We can have all the draft picks in the world, but a team of 18 year olds cant win a flag

The blues had the inside mail. Likely a grenade of opportunity.

1. Scully = certain star

2. Trengove = certain star (would be ok if we took Martin or Rohan)

11. Talia = AA CHB, can play forward

18. who cares, maybe use as part of a trade

Now your cookin', where on the same page there.

My hopes are when we get pick 11, that we use that pick for a youngster, tall, Talia/Butcher would be worth pick 11 IMO/Temel/Vardy/Panos/Carlisle...if not a tall, Rohan.

I'm sure he'll take over the captaincy from Judd ahead of Murphy, Gibbs etc.

He donated twice.

You would have to think then that at the dinner he was committed to the club. Not arguing about tanking with DB as is being suggested. Not sure of the timing, was the dinner before the Richmond game?

You would also think that since the dinner and the end of the season list management meetings have happened and end of year discussions with players.

Given the oversupply of inside mids and the need to get games into Scully and Tengrove (if we pick them) then his opportunities beyond next year may be limited. And he may have been told as such.

His comments about leaving refered to it being best for his career and with Stevens leaving Carlton there were opportunities for him there.

This is pure speculation of course but to me make more sense than the sky falling in.

If we lose Davey as well then I might take a more pesimistic view.

The Hawks made some similar ballsy decisions a few years back, and within a few years were celebrating a premiership. We all claim that we are willing to put up with a little short term pain for long term gain, but the moment we trade a slow player who hasn't performed in 3 years it's all doom and gloom. I back the club; make some hard calls and have a genuine crack at building a side from the ground up and let's have a decent go at ending this 45 year drought.

Hi guys first time writer, long time reader i hate to see brock go but he hasn't improve on his game enough to warrant him staying, this year he has become slower IMO, I think now was the right time to trade him as IMO he wasn't going to get any better, I'm quite happy with pick 11 we could use it to free up trade deals or draft another player, still sad to see him go though.

Working on it... had visitors.

Anyhow.. probably been discussed to death already since there's 9 pages.. are we happy with pick 11 for Brock? I keep bouncing it against pick 14 for an older Trav - and thinking it's not too bad considering his injuries and how it's affected his footy for the last couple of years. I think he'll play some good football going forwards if he gets his body right, but he's going to be warming more than a few benches going forwards if he's off to Carlton - can't see him pushing Judd, Gibbs and Murphy out.

How long is this short term pain? We have already had 3 shocking years and are relying on 18 year olds to get us out of this mess.

I'm not 100% sure how pick 11 should be valued this year. Nor Brock for that matter. He's had a terrible year, but if he avoids more injuries could still be a very good player. Pace isn't the focus of the Carlton Midfield, and he can fit in for hardness. He could be a very good player for them. I don't think we'll be able to judge who got the better of this deal for a long time to come.

He'll excel at Carlton (providing fitness) without a hard tag, feeding the ball out to Gibbs and Murphy. If he can get his fitness back, he'll finish very high in their B&F next season.

The worst thing about this is that McLean could potentially help Carlton win a flag, and I can never ever support or even mildly like any player who wears that filthy navy jumper. So McLean just went from my favourite player, to one of my most hated.

That must be a very strange scenario for you to fathom. I could never have imagined Wheels defecting off to CarlJudd

People need to relax and realise that Brock's move to Carlton will solve the oft asked question, 'Can you do donuts in a Prius?' All else is mere rumour but if some players want to move for the reasons speculated then it would be fair to say that I will be there to hold the door open.

Brock for Pick 11 is a fair deal for mine. To be at his best Brock has to be super fit to play well as his game is about getting to as many contests as possible which requires elite endurance. There is a real question mark over whether he can remain injury free long enough - refer weeks missed due to injury below - to be able to get to that level of elite endurance. Its no use being a clearance specialist if you can't get to enough contests. Brock was ordinary this year, looked very slow and his disposal was average.

It could indeed be a positive for Melbourne that he has looked around at the young developing talent around him and speculated on the arrival of Scully and Trengove and seen his place in the 22 in question and decided to move on. Carlton do need a fully fit Brock type and they are gambling on Brock being able to avoid injury and attain a level of fitness that has eluded him in recent years. In doing so they have foregone a pick that might have landed them a much needed potential replacement key forward for the soon to be 29 years old Fevola. Thats another gamble for the Blues.

So Ratten and Riley know and appreciate Brock from their time at Melbourne. Well they knew and appreciated CJ from their time at Melbourne and its fair to say more than a few Blues fans are wishing they did not. We now have picks 1, 2, 11 and 18 in the least uncompromised draft for 3 or 4 years. Strong hand when added to our stocks of elite young talent.

Fair comment, but I would rather an 18 year old who is going somewhere and has a point to prove than someone who is only getting slower. We backed the kids this year, back them again for another year.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
