  1. Changes for GWS

Well, let's move on to this. I also think we are a sneaky show for this game. Out: Hogan, JKH, Trengove In: Jones, Pedersen, Vince

This reeks of a danger game in my opinion - Melbourne needing a win to keep finals hopes alive against a winless team. Suffice to say if we do not bring it and we lose then not only are we are out of the running for the first AFLW flag, but it'll be in the most embarrassing circumstances. GWS pushed Carlton in Round 2 I believe, nearly got a win over Collingwood but were then rolled last week by the Lions. Who knows what they'll bring, but there is a lame-ish video of Stevie J training them on their website so maybe that might have some kind of impact. One thing I do know is that we have been increasing the intensity and skill across the whole team after each round so if we continue that then this week we could potentially belt the living christ out of the opposition and gain some good percentage in the process. Here's hoping Daisy outdoes her 29 touches against Carlscum and becomes the 1st AFLW player to crack 30. If we get the chocolates then we'll have won 4 in a row, which is fantastic (and required) momentum in this short comp. This will see us at a minimum 3rd place on the ladder, and if Adelaide lose to the Lions then we will be equal with them albeit on a lower percentage. Will the travel and weather have an impact on the team? Hard to say. I'm hoping they recover well as we have Adelaide in Darwin the following week in another must-win game. At the end of the day, I'm tipping we will get a big win here - but there's always the chance with the MFC of being let down at the most integral moment. Team should be released Thursday night.
  3. The Melbourne AFL Women's team is coming to Sydney to play GWS this Friday night. A win over GWS will keep us in contention for the Grand Final. The women are winning by playing contested football, moving the ball quickly, creating space to attack the goals and tackling ferociously. Talk about a Demon tackler - Daisy Pearce is the top tackler in the AFLW. And we have a special opportunity to meet and hear from our Captain, Daisy in Sydney this Thursday 2nd March 2017 - 6.30 to 8.30 pm. Don't miss out. Book now to meet Daisy at our NSW Demons evening in Sydney. https://www.trybooking.com/OSSR More details : www.nswdemons.com
  4. GWS, an expensive drain on Aussie Rules, congrats Western Sydney Wanderers on winning the Asian Champions League after a courageous overnight draw in Riyadh. Started after GWS, on much lower funding. A genuine, grass roots football organisation. On the weekend, Gill said they wanted to collaborate with football in western Sydney. Well now they are going to have to. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-02/western-sydney-wanderers-win-asian-champions-league-title/5860430
  5. Jono O’Rourke

Im a massive wrap for this kid. Have not heard anything since he was drafted as he has been injured but he was a very highly rated junior prospect at under 18s level. I rate him more highly then Dom Tyson and he reminds me a lot of Trent Cotchin. He is also another tall midfielder that can play inside or out. I hope we seriously consider getting into this kids ear at years end about the prospect of joining our football club. I think he will struggle to break into GWS emerging midfield talent because of his injury setbacks but he would add some serious class and talent to our midfield. Thoughts?
  6. Taylor Adams

Just reported on AFL.com that Taylor Adams has put off contract talks with GWS. I'd be keen for some vengeance, nicking a player like him. What do you think? Worth a crack surely. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-06-08/taylor+adams+post+geelong
  7. Why no Tarrant rumours?

Why is it that Green retires and there are immediate rumours regarding GWS, yet Tarrant, who still looks in pretty good nick, isn't rumoured as a possible signing? I think GWS would benefit from a strong, experienced player that can play forward AND back. Plus I'd love to see how quickly Eddie changes his opinion about how good a bloke Tarrant is if it happened.
  8. The participants in the Lachie Whitfield Cup already at it - Triple blow for Giants
  9. GWS Targeting Jamar

More great news... http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/jamar-high-on-giants-ruck-list-20120404-1wdac.html GWS are able to sign Jamar as a free agent at the end of season. We need to lock away The Russian ASAP because it is obviously important from a football perspective but it would also be good to create some positive publicity around the club. IMO GWS are more likely to go after Ryder who is apparently out of contract, a lot younger and has a good relationship with Sheeds.
  10. Teens' exodus a Giant worry for Greater Western Sydney Such a sad, sad, story. Ha, ha!
  11. Sam Reid

Can someone please explain to me how Sam Reid has been signed by GWS as a SECOND uncontracted player from the Bulldogs, after Callan Ward? So the dogs will receive compensation for him? After Brisbane needing to trade one of Rischitelli and Brennan last year, this has been some serious shifting of the goalposts. Surely a trade has to happen, or GWS can just pick him up in the PSD, but how does the AFL bend the rules like this? Otherwise it looks like Port will (should) get compo for both Cornes and Brogan, and Brisbane for Power. *caveat - the Herald Sun could quite easily be very wrong on this.
