    Laughing at the Pies.....

Painfully true - but one hopes that the Dees have learnt a lesson or two and now have the infrastructure and game to avoid those 'flat' moments - and uncontrolled possessions. It appears to be the case but is still building; of course, it will be interesting to see just how far we have come. Six hours or more of weekly training, over ten months of the year surely can lead to a better 100 minutes of a footy game.

2., because of all the hype as they might approach the finals series beforehand. If they ain't nowhere near a finals appearance, well and good.

Another joy to watch on the 2019 horizon, for sure.

That is one piece of information that we are cruelling for - just where Stretch happens to be fitness-wise, at the moment and indications for the coming months. He could be devastating on a flank, if fit.

    Training - Saturday 12th January, 2019

In the press, it mentions that Gus had endured a minor back injury a few weeks ago and that is mended (so to speak), enabling him to join the main training group, once again. Not sure if this is a relief or another psychological terror for him and his followers. If he can do a whole season, he must be heading for a stellar season in terms of effect and fear.

Very regimented, orderly, squad-related running. Just like Kapooka, only red'n'blue! Appears to be a good sense of role, function, association, man-to-man identity, purposeful and controlled. Wish I was there...nice video.

Bernie Vince talks up Tom Sparrow on SEN

He reminds me of Andy Lovell with darker hair. Hope he is just as good.

    Training - Saturday 12th January, 2019

Plus, Weideman and Preuss are champing at the bit, Hunt is on fire with improved teamplay skills and passing, Stretch is up and about and running, driving the ball ever-forward with pace.

    Players of note 2019

There is almost so much improvement in our list for the coming season that one can overlook by forgetfulness alone that there are new recruits and recruited old stagers, with experience, to burn for the Dees. Good assets are coming out of our ears. With Stretch and Lever returning for a competitive edge and a full season (hopefully) from Gus, we are a 'shoe-in' for the GF as a result of creating some very miserable results for most opposition teams across the year.

    Origins/meanings of Display Names?

Irresponsible, I know, but that memory was a reality and it still makes me smile with great enjoyment of his game.

    Dream Forward Line

One must wonder how unstoppable the Tulip actually was - I don't think he was ever an aggressor on the field, just a bloody talented footballer with class and application to burn. Yet, Matthews was in my best 3 footballers of all time. Tulip, Matthews and Blight. The Ox is No. 4, pre-first knee injury. Great memories, all of this posting - but pointless to scale footballers across the 50 years of associated daydreams. However, I remain very excited about the young Kobe Farmer coming to the Dees in years to come - the Wizard also had it all in teams that failed to deliver to elicit his complete talents. Maybe Kobe can make up for that when the time is ripe.

    Dream Forward Line

Top selections from the past, no doubt. I also wonder about Darren Bennett - he was truly fantastic, both leading out and kicking (from almost any distance) but as discussed with him at the time, he couldn't get the selectors' eyes against Jakovich. I thought that he was just as good, if not a little more reliable than the former; however, the bulk of goals that Jakovich could muster was magnificent. Neitz was great too, when shifted to the forward line, but was better at CHB earlier on - and perhaps was played as a forward late in his career for just that little bit too long. Into Neitz's spot, I'd consider Bennett due to that 50 metre lead he'd pull, kicking the big ones nearly every time from out near the 60-70 metre zone, post high. I'd never seen a player do that so easily, so often, so well. Fanning was a freak, they say, but my Dad said he did it in the days when footballers and most of the opposition for the Dees were part-timers, also-runners, and paddock grazers.

    Membership packs

It is understandably often a stuff up, but fairy nuff with our growing membership numbers; all can be ameliorated to individual satisfaction in a few weeks - with a phone call to the mbrship dept. Who'd want the pack before Xmas, anyway? The MFC do a great job as it is, and these membership folk are always striving for the best on our behalf - even those interstate , such as my family, receive top service when requested or often, attention to best access/seats/ticket readiness/travelling times, family and friends rendezvous, etc. At times, they make you feel like you are the only Member, such is the quality and attention that they provide, not one in 50000.

    R1 2019

...only weakness is OMac at CHB instead of Frosty. Shame that Hannan fits as an emergency but this is the state of the list, I guess. OMac should be an emergency in our opinions, with some serious running time and practice in the Casey team for some time.

    Tim Smith v Cam Pedersen

Obviously into sadism, necrophilia and bestiality. Flogging a dead horse or not, it is an opinion worthy of attention, not abuse.

    Origins/meanings of Display Names?

Must have been a great group with some fantastic lunch options/memories. Had a similar one going years ago, in Melbourne, amongst a group of professional associates and boy, did we look forward to these little sojourns! We had a rule: The best lunches in Melb were south and east of the Yarra River, and the best beers were in Richmond.

    Demons 7th ranked forward line

Plain and simple; the empty heads are rumbling again - they will say anything at any time for any reason. Dead right, 'Balls, GF day is ours this year.

    Membership packs

My wife received hers in the Adelaide mail 5 days ago, and mine arrived yesterday. Pretty basic this year with two scarves each (must have been an oversupply) but there are 2 guest passes in each pack for the home games, in addition to your normal entry entitlements. Flying over for Round 1 - going to be a 'beauty'.

    Origins/meanings of Display Names?

Legend? Absolute champion, please! Great name to have, and well selected. I still have dreams about the accuracy of his clearances and his superb kicking to a teammate some 60 metres away....and his desire for the ball no matter what! Only the opposition 'stagers' got a kick off him - and that was gifted by some snot-gobbling umpire misreading the purity of his work ethic.
